Step outside map, instant death with no warning or alerts and loss of all gear, weapons, armor, and loot. Nothing is recoverable past the barrier. Epic programming failure or complete ignorance in human behavior. Being grieved by other players is annoying enough but a game with built-in “screw you” isn’t worth playing. Without any tutorial 90% of players are quitting the game within 15 minutes of trying it for the first time. Anyone smart enough and patient enough to do enough Google research to start playing the game will soon leave from frustration and anxiety by continuously having to start over. On a final note, removing full nudity option on an adult game makes me feel like I don’t live in a free country.
Honestly if a beginner skips the intro of the game so it’s unaware of being trapped in exiled lands… and no doubt in him when he see the giant green magic wall… well I think one time everyone of us tryed to pass it, but without complaining other than ourself
It would be nice if you body dropped in a recoverable spot right at the wall for those situations when a boss punts you off the map. I’m somewhat less sympathetic to people trying to walk thru a pretty obvious world-boundary, though I do agree that the body should still drop within recoverable range right at the wall.
I’ve managed to recover my body after a meeting with the ghost fence. Depends on specifics if it’s possible I guess.
Excellent! Let those people impatient enough to quit a game after 15 minutes go. Although, I fail to see how anyone can gather any armor or weapons of any value in the first 15 minutes of the game before they walk into the green wall. Perhaps there’s an exploit I am unaware of at this point?
The total lack of any tutorial was the most intriguing part of the game. I started with no idea what to do, and learned by trial and error. I found the NPC people you are supposed to talk with about the land, and I actually listened to the lore stone stories. It was three months before I even looked to see if there was a Wiki.
As for the nudity, no, you do not live in a free country. The ESRB decides that we in the US can’t have full nudity on consoles, not Funcom. However, if you want to run through the lands, swinging free or perhaps having nothing to swing, you can easily purchase a UK version on a certain auction site. Mine was delivered in a week.
So, go ahead, Mr. People Will Rage Quit Because I Am Unhappy I was Dumb Enough To Not Pay Attention To The Opening Although The Poor Programming Told Me It Would Happen If I Did It But I Don’t Care Because I Think Everyone Cares If I Quit, you go ahead with that plan.
To me the no hand-holding style of gameplay with Soulsborne lore progression, is just the thing I want.
Ive only ever died once on the magical giant green wall that is the most obvious world boundary Ive ever seen… and that was when I accidentally flew straight into in Admin mode…
The game very clearly tells you that you will die if you pass the ghost fence.
Agreed I wanted to test what magical thing it was and I learned the hard way afterwards I saw a stone on the broken highway saying not to go that way lol! Pretty obvious after my death though.
Question the UK version has that full nudity? I don’t want or like censoring of my games because I planned to buy the game to support funcom this month or coming and I am sick of being limited to what US says is actually free. Japan is the only true heaven of games and industry. That and the brown or gray rags are just gross.
I could post a screen shot of the UK version, but this is a family site. You do get the full experience.
Some of the named guys though…poor guys.
By named I assume you mean thralls? Misspelling? I’m not familiar with the UK language I assume it ranges from French and English, British spoken dialect?
I’ve lost everything by going past the green wall before. I wasn’t angry, just amused.
Several of the named male thralls are not given much to be proud of in their natural state. It seems a majority of the female dancers can be used as a flotation device, but the guys…they were given the short end of the stick, so to speak.
EU has full nudity, with oversized…assets, on both genders
You mean size doesn’t matter to judge a Thrall’s worthiness ?
Their worthiness is not in question. I am merely showing sympathy for a group that has come up short in their blessings.
Hey is not the length of the sword, but how well you use it to kill your enemies that matters.

Even though this game does not have a tutorial it has settings controller settings I have been playing games from the age of Sega, none of which ever had them I have always found a way using my brain and problem solving 100% which most games consist of, honestly I do understand the reasoning you make but let’s be honest all most all games have become so casual that people can’t seem to find a way out of a paper bag, my cousin whom is 8 or well was had no issues back then with minecraft I don’t recall him ever using the tutorial.
I honestly think most people can learn a phone with out a tutorial so how would this be any different? Some games are just not there cup of T 90% of games on consoles have been ruined by the new generational gap. I being between both. I believe the dawn of mobile app games if you can call 90% of them that plus such things as fortnite which causes 1% of brain cells being used to Aim-Point-Shoot has had a effect of all games that require more than that is too much for most. This is essentially Minecraft for adults, to which a lot of Adults didn’t even like 7days2Die which is essentially the same thing. Either way the same results of life the weak will die the strong will survive. Conan Exiles seem to mostly die. Either way all you can do is introduce them and assist them and hope for the best Like I have 2 new friends have stayed after being assisted slightly. Had they checked the controls they would have learned how to build. I had to literally show them the settings…
Technically the way to teach could be thorough (devs could have done a better job). Leaving the teaching to a “talking” stone wall wasn’t the first thing that came to my mind. For example I went straight past them, wandered so long as to die couple times of hunger, went to the right direction this time and then as frustrated as I was, I accidentally pressed a button while aiming a stick only to pick it up… Can you imagine the moment? LOL
Never did I imagine that sticks that look like props could be actually picked up. I come from Minecraft and there the wood came from trees, so the first thing I tried was to get branches from trees themselves with fists (to drop down in a way). When it didn’t work, I tried to climb next to them to break them loose. Didn’t work (I fell instead, multiple times). Despair slowly filling my mind; not a nice feeling. Then the rest is history.
I am generally frightened by everything so upon hitting M to bring up the map I ran towards the blue.
It never occurred to me even go close to that shimmering wall of green death.
Even without a tutorial I knew it was like…the worst idea.
Flight vs Fight is exactly what carried me to level 60.
Nothing is the game’s fault. Game is innocent to the unnecessary portion of frustration brought down to us due lack of education. Education part of the game that devs didn’t quite deliver well enough. It’s the devs that didn’t deliver, not the game. They coded it.
Point is that there are no cues fleshed out enough to pay attention to, survival game or not. There’s too much room for unnecessary errors (it’s devs’ job to influence our attention). This ain’t a soulsborne game after all, although even those have proper tutorials present.
I don’t think that’s the issue, but the level of practicality instead. No motive, no focus, no tapping. Also begs the question why don’t the culture of our characters’ bring any recipes to the lands with us?
