The dune movie already came out... in other countries

Does anyone want to chime their opinion?

Mmmm a film probably to see
ok it’s in French but the article is uninteresting

  • It is an eminently political book that denounces fanaticism. »* A message that is hardly compatible with the very notion… of fans.

There are complicated adaptations, it is clear that Dune has brought to light a deep reflection on the functioning of our societies, I am extremely curious to see how 50 years later they have adapted in this future that has become present.

I’m in the States so I haven’t seen it yet but I listened to the soundtrack through headphones in the dark and it almost gave me an anxiety attack.

I’m very excited for it, despite all the promotional materials saying I might as well not bother if I don’t watch it on an Imax screen when the nearest Imax theater is over 200 miles away.

Just saw it last week-end. I could speak about it for hours, but here are some of the main points:

  • First of all the movie is just a kind of introduction to Dune universe. A lot of messages / info are given but no real criticism of society or anything like this yet
  • Visuals are awesome. Not only special effects, even the most simple dialogue scene is shown in a brillant way
  • Music is almost as brillant as the scenography
  • Actors are genius
  • There is a lot of action in the movie, and at the same time not so much. The global rythm is quite interesting. The end is similar to the end of the first book, quite abrupt and leaving you … craving for more !

That’s so odd that you can watch it months ahead of others!

In Australia it is not being released until December 2nd…yep!

I was able to see it over the weekend; I liked it, but I thought the pace was a bit slow- but I was left wanting more!

I was skeptical of a lot of the choices for actors, but all of them worked perfectly for their roles IMO.

I wish that we could have had a whole movie just explaining the Atreides vs. Harkonens.

And goodness, some of the vehicle designs really do seem like they would be where tech stands in 10,000 years from now. And even though the thopters don’t seem that uber advanced compared to some of the other ships, they are so awesome to see in flight.

I see they included Duncan Idaho (Jason Mamoa) so I’ll go see it. In the book, the story follows Duncan Idaho at first. That’s how you learn about what lies on Arrakis. A pivotal character for the reader.
