The grind IS the game

So, I start a new game with age of war part 2. I am at level 30 and go to the Summoning Place defeat all the baddies. Oh, there is a bountiful treasure chest. I’ll just take that with me. I get outside the summoning place and get attacked by 2 ruffians then take 10 steps (maybe 15) and again accosted by even more thugs beat them down take 10 more steps and again I get pounced on. I got to lug this treasure back to my fort at the Shattered Basin. Thats a long walk even without this bs. No, I don’t have sorcery. Haven’t been to the cave yet. Yeah, I gave up. I left the chest in the desert. I’m not even going to bother collecting these treasure chests and other golden widgets if you’re just going to get bush waked every 10 steps. Funco managed to make something that was annoying (lugging treasure around) now it’s just stupid and a waste of time. Of course, this is just my own opinion. Grind on Exiles.

One of the skills of CE is to learn and to adapt. When one finds a path that is long or difficult to take, they can choose to duck their head and try to push through, or they can try to find another path or use tools to shorten that path.

Sorry to say but you chose the former, simply out of ego and principle and didn’t really try to explore any other options. That will always result in a very unfun if not frustrating experience.

Instead look at the mistakes that were made, look at the options you may have, and then seek to try those instead. If that isn’t something you wish to do, then I do highly recommend uninstalling the game and moving on. This game isn’t for everyone, nor should it be.

I’d worry about hitting 60 before trying to collect the purge treasures.

Your armor and weapons at 30 aren’t great. Did you have a thrall with you?

Every game has a “late game” content. Trying to make late game content without experience, knowledge or skills it will have the outcome you just described. Keep playing to learn how to avoid grind m8.

I never had this happen in age of war part 1 with a level 60 character.

Lighten up, Francis.

It doesn’t have to do with your lvl, it’s a new mechanic that added on part 2 m8. They made however the value 10 times higher. On part 1 they had 500 gold value and now they have 5.000. But for as long as you carrying these treasures you will accept random attacks from raiders. It’s a really nice mechanism you know it gives some extra bonus if you use it wisely. For example, let’s say you have a base in the frozen north mountains over the frost keep that has literally zero npcs there. In order to make some zombies, you’ll have to use the entrances to the volcano, or teleport to other places. Holding a treasury trophy and keep some distance from your base you’ll accept attacks from npcs, so there you go, knock them down and you have your objective 100m away from your door

I’ve never had that problem but I am a man. I carried a bountiful chest from New Asgard to my home in the far NW corner of the map.

Let this one help just a little…

Those big heavy hernia inducing treasures?
Not worth the effort.
Your time is far better spent acquiring gold to make into bars. Enemies and chests have coin purses which now have a hefty amount of money.
There are also lesser random treasures to be found.

In the time it takes to waddle back to base, even with a teleporter as close as possible, you could have probably made a nice sandwich.
You will never get those minutes spent waddling back.
But that sandwich will be delicious and filling for at least a few minutes.
How do you want to spend your oh so finite time in this worl-, er, game?
Search your heart, you know incidental acquisition of wealth is best, because it doesn’t turn the game into a schlepping simulator.

In some RPGs you will find what are called “trap options”.
A higher level spell that is a downgraded version of a lower level incantation. More expensive armour with a worse AC. Some aging, strung out addict whom you barely knew in high school who just “needs a chance”, a chance to befoul your sofa and drive off far lower maintenance fri- support NPCs and romance options.

That’s what the treasure that impacts your stride more than having a grown @$$ elephant and tiger both tucked in your cloaca at the same time is.
It’s a trap.

Also there’s treasure items that go in your inventory as well. However the point is if you can’t survive the trek home with the chest then how would you expect to survive a purge. The OP was defeated the second he posted. A level X purge would destroy him.

Well there are several things you can do about it.

First: get yourself the maproom recipe. Its pretty simple and doable at those level. The materials for it are easy to come by.

Second: if you play solo consider getting yourself admin rights and teleport home. You can also use pippi or any other mod that adds teleportation. You don´t have to make it a free service but a paid one for rp reasons.

Third: Get yourself companions and let them fight for your.

That is what this one meant by lesser treasures.
The gemstones, gnawed bone, runestones, treasure maps, ect…

But you are correct, if the randos (the strongest this one has seen is Janos, and he’s not too much of threat) are dangerous, ready for a purge one is not.

My point was that these random attacks are not random they happen every time you pick it up. thugs arrive knock it out of your hands defeat thugs pick up treasure box take a step and more show up and knock it out of your hands rinse repeat. it’s just way to often.

In other words working as intended

I cleared a level 1 purge at character level 28 solo in medium basic armor. No special weapons just Turian long sword. 14 dmg. does that count? I only had 80 gold coins so I could only get a level 1. I wanted to test where and if the attack base would spawn in relation to my base. No more treasure chests till I get sorcery and build teleporters.

Level 1 is child’s play. We are talking max level in other words X or Ten/10

That is prudent.

Level 1 is barely worse than the waylay teams.
6 and 8 were where this one noticed spikes in challenge.

Also, the size of the purge grows in waves based on your follower count. By awares.

It’s on how much time it took you to clean every strike. If these “raids” have a timer to strike and you spend this time to kill the waves yes, this looks infinite. But it ain’t like this if you’re 60 and you have followers with you. It will take you seconds to clean each wave so the attacks will be less. However you don’t get a treasure trophy to walk all this way m8, it’s just too much. Finish your sorcery knowledge and fix transportory stones to rob these trophies. Like i said in the beginning, it’s a late game thing to carry trophies. You need lots of knowledge and skills to gain them earlier.

It’s a new mechanic that gives the opportunity for named thralls as well. A couple friends and I picked one up and fought off numerous waves. Unfortunately, it didn’t spawn a single crafter. I’m still confused as to how we’re gonna get ANY crafters in the new system. The purge doesn’t spawn them, nor do these little treasure excursions.

Have encountered any named Ambusher who wasn’t named Janos?
This one has encountered about a half dozen of him.

This would have been a premium time to implement the Wolves of Sennu bandit group…
Or make the literal bandits like those in Sepermeru bonkable.

As for crafters, no crafters for anyone anymore.
