Thrall attacking monsters

Game mode: [Single-player]
Type of issue: [Bug]
Server type: [Single-Player]
Region: [USA]

After me and my thrall have killed an enemy my thrall will often time charge onwards to the next target. So long as the enemy hasn’t detected me yet my thrall will just swing through them w/o doing any damage. As soon as the enemy has detected me my thrall will get credit for hitting and damaging them. I think this has probably been brought up before but there’s so many threads about thralls not attacking that searching for it is a chore. So my apologies if this has already been brought up.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Attack and kill an enemy that has other enemies near by
  2. Watch your thrall run to engage the other enemy/enemies.
  3. Notice the thrall is just swinging thru the enemy w/o doing damage.
  4. Move close enough that the enemy/enemies agro on you.

This used to also happen to the Cimmerian Berserker that spawns in the water at the Mounds of the Dead when attacking a wight. Since the patch I have yet to see the Berserker run to attack/engage any wights.

It’s definitely a bug, and I’ve run into it before, but I can offer a workaround. When you reach the area where you want to fight, tell your thrall to stop following you (but don’t set it to guard, that would change it’s “return home” point).

This is also a workaround for the behavior in which the thrall won’t attack your enemy – even if you’re actively fighting that enemy – until you receive some damage.

Again, I’m not saying it shouldn’t be fixed, just offering some workarounds.

It’s not something I have an issue with. I just thought that since it’s a bug I would post it. Thanks for the workaround though. :+1:
