Thralls Attacking & Taking Damage From Players/Thralls Outside of Raid Window

Game mode: Official Server(s)
Problem: Bug?
Region: America (so far)

Not sure if this is intended (haven’t been able to see such changes in the viewed patch notes). Prior to the past update(s) thralls could not harm or be harmed by players/thralls outside of the raid window.

If this is a bug (not intentional) then the balance of things has been considerably offset, especially for those that do not use/exploit the bug to attack players/thralls outside of the raid window.

Steps on how to reproduce issue:

  1. set a thrall(s) to “attack all enemies”
  2. command a thrall to attack an enemy player/thrall
  3. thrall receives damage from enemy player/thrall

Players are using the “bug” to attack enemy players/thralls themselves and or with their thrall outside of the raid window.

On PvP servers thralls are supposed to be treated as “buildings” (at least they were before) meaning that they are not to take damage from enemy players/thralls outside of the raid window. Prior to “recent” change(s) a player could have peace of mind if their thrall was left somewhere (for whatever reason) that was away from NPC’s/wildlife/things the thrall couldn’t handle. This is now being circumvented being that an enemy player can not only damage your thrall(s) themselves outside of the raid window, they can also use their own thrall to do damage as well, kill it and take whatever is in its inventory outside the raid window.

Is the described a bug or intended functionality? Can/will there be an official announcement as to which it is? Players need to know what to do/not do.

  • If it is a bug players need to know that it is bug abuse to kill thralls outside of the raid window.
  • If it is intended functionality players need to know that leaving thralls out/guarding can lead to them being killed outside of the raid window.

The bug existed in past updates, too. Still waiting for a fix.

P.S. unless someone wants to ban healing arrows as a band-aid fix

Since when though? PC? Console?

Not that it didn’t/couldn’t exist before though personally don’t recall witnessing thralls attacking enemy players/thralls or taking damage from those sources/your character outside the raid window prior to the mount/thrall leveling/command updates.

Over a year and half ago thralls just stood there outside the raid window (June 2019). At some point over the course of updates did personally began to witness outside the raid window enemy thralls starting to yell when you got near or yelling + running up to your character though not attacking (currently don’t recall exactly which update it all started happening after, Update 38 - December 2019 - Mounts/Thrall Leveling?).

It seems that enemy players/thralls can no longer directly damage thralls outside of the raid window, has something changed server side?

All I remember is coming back to base one day and found most of everything destroyed. I also remembered it was around noon. The attackers have since left the Exiled Lands. I’ve seen some videos of how it might get started.

Guarding thralls cannot be damaged by enemy players/thralls outside the raid window. It seems thralls that are following/scouting/not guarding can be damaged by enemy players/thralls outside the raid window.

Apparently a thrall that has been damaged/not at full health prior to the raid window closing can be damaged/killed outside the raid window.

Thralls that are following can attack and be attacked at any time during the day. It was an intended change but I can’t remember what update it was. Guarding thralls do not take damage outside of raidtime. However, there is a small window after you place them on guard where they can still be attacked. Should be like 5 or 10 min
