Thralls still dying in Lava when following in the Volcano. Even when carefully leading them over bridges that I built.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Same issue here but in PvP official. I’d lead a thrall across my draw bridge and they’d fall right through and die. My horse also followed me From my volcano base but teleported through lava to get to me when I crossed the draw bridge and died too.
Could you clarify something, please. Is this occuring in the volcano on the world map, or is it occuring in the Well of Skelos dungeon? If possible, I think uploading a screencap or recording the location (Shift + Ctrl + Alt + L) would be good information to provide for the devs.
You can’t build in the dungeon. It happens anywhere in the Volcano where you can build. Build a bridge over lava and the thrall sometimes fall through player built structure and dies in lava.
Removing environmental damage to thralls seems like the best solution to this excruciating problem.
It would help if all thralls/pets would treat lava as impossible/inaccessible terrain. The fact that anything takes damage if it falls into lava, well that makes complete sense. Lava is a tad warm. Dropping through mesh like drawbridges is a but that I think is on the list of fixes, although drawbridges are wood and therefore should also take damage whilst open and over a lava stream. I would have it that anything will take damage - certainly if it is through the lava. It is melted stone after all.
I do not think dev time being spent trying to separate mesh for players vs all other life is likely and may not even be possible or time-efficient as it has to still allow for burn damage to players mis-jumping lava. Lava is not nice. It is startling how far away from raw lava the radiant heat reaches. Makes a standard bushfire seem like fireside R&R.
My not-so-intelligent slaves always run across the lava, but no one died so far.
Also disabling enviromental damage to thralls is a big no, if yo have to survive, they should have too.
I’m telling you: if I catch my thrall standing in the lava, I rescue them, and slapped them because of their stupidity (yeah, I can speak now that is lolz, xd’z, funny and evertyhing, UNTIL one of my thrall dies, probably I will get angry then tho…)
But that’s part of the issue. Players have the intelligence to not stand in lava. Thralls don’t unless it’s been coded into their AI properly. The mechanic is already in place for some situations, such as immunity to sandstorms and immunity to poison gas while following, etc.
We’re aware of this issue and our team is looking at it, although not with the highest priority. We released a fix for the Well of Skelos recently, but the rest of the volcano area still presents this issue.
Apologies for the frustration.
True. That’s what I think instead of make them immune to lava, followers should “learn” avoiding them like water.
This way they will find a proper way/teleport, or if they accidentally go into it, they immediately jump out of the lava, making them more player-like characters.
Have you ever been meters from the newb river, looked down and refilled your thirst meter? It would appear the river (in this case, lava) extends under the visible ground for some technical issue, probably continuity of the landscape. It started with the original game design and has been present since. This is not the OP’s issue.
As I read it, the cause in this case was the thrall dropping through the structure into the lava and that particular issue is one personally experienced, both on live and testlive. Understanding the difference between the two is important for us to understand and try not to confuse.
I had one drop through a structure and had to invoke admin (ghost) mode to get the damn thing back. Unfortunately, that’s mostly not possible for the majority of players. Even then he was difficult to target within a sandstone foundation.
My personal preference is to find a way to make the visible ground solid. That would solve the OP’s issue and also the case of the disappearing dead.
Avoiding the lava is simple, but time consuming, guard/move/guard/move etc. Since it’s such a PIA, I do not enter the volcano unless absolutely necessary.
Yeah, my solution has been to not bring my favorite thralls into the volcano. There are plenty of disposable fighters there to draw from. If they survive long enough to have good stats and get great perks, then I pull them from volcano usage.
I also use the guard-move-guard method to cross player made bridges to avoid them falling through and dying. Haven’t had an issue since doing this. Still a pain though.
