I let a fresh t4 dafari crafter prove his worth with the clothes on his back and the stone club he was given off the wheel, he took one for the team. Doesn’t show anything, just died then the rot. I have witnessed it plenty whilst visiting or having visitors. Case in point, on my second floor in a relatively small area, the mangy mongrel spawned on the roof and clipped through wall with a lunge attack. The feral cur was promptly brought to justice by one of my lawn decor guards, She jumped out of her onsen and crushed it’s filthy skull before I could even get out of my chair but, my Sadeh took about half her life in a few swipes because the bleed is fairly impressive. She now wears plot armor along with the rest of my girls. Since I’m one of those spoiled few, proper blood crystal chakrams. The whole issue lies in the WH spawning for a player on another’s claim.
To circle back, because LS took away the players agency to choose how to command their support thralls with LS being set to off by default and not providing a Thrall Radial Wheel Option, to Control the Living Settlements AI Behavior, they instead opted to let the AI toddler crafters run out into traffic even though you babyproofed your home. For some people starting out or still on the grind, the WH has a huge potential to kill 600 hp sinners and dafari crafters by pure accident when someone passes by at night… in the dark or theoretically by gobknobs who enjoy trolling players.
Indeed, there’s certainly potential for various problems like the purge exploit, kites, they generally have an entry to indicate the event. Seems LS never does
It seems the single skull kitteh cats in near the mounds can open doors.
That was amusing.
This one will try to get a video in the future, but they walked up, and opened the door to come in and try to eat the dancers.
(This one’s dancers always have at least cimmerian steel with an illusion, so joke was on the feline).
Lost 4 named worker thralls in the past two weeks. Had locked them on the second floor and the are now dead. I was told to go to the forums to find answers. I now put all workers on the first floor and hope for the best.
not sure correct emoji but noooooooo, please keep it on. It is working fine on official. Sure they creep around in stalker mode or skate but it’s fun. And none have gone missing.
I like living settlements but I’ve lost almost all of my worker thralls on 3 separate official PvE-C servers since the March update…so I’m not sure what alternatives there are at this point. Without a shieldright and a bladesmith you can’t craft proper meta gear, it’s harder to run purges, etc.—and finding the precise mix of thralls takes a lot of time—so when they randomly fall into your floorboards it’s really demotivating. I think of myself as a decent builder, so they aren’t dying to random NPC aggroing or anything like this—it’s simply a random glitch where they disappear into the aether along with the countless hours of hunting it took to capture them.
So that’s where I’m at with living settlements for the time being. I hope a fix can be implemented at some point to prevent this issue for good, but right now the mechanics just aren’t worth the time and effort from a gameplay perspective, which is really sad because I thoroughly loved what living settlements brings to the game.
While I understand your sentiment, you’re of the lucky ones. The longer Living Settlements stands active with no definitive patch, the riskier it becomes that you can lose your thralls. I haven’t lost any for some time (lost 1 on EL and 2 on Siptah a while back), but I’m not willing to take that chance. This vote isn’t about them getting rid of Living Settlements altogether, it’s about them deactivating the wandering element until they can get a fix out that actually works.
If you came over from Reddit to cast your vote, I’m seeing many replying with the same feelings on there. They seem to be missing the fact that just because it’s not happening to them, it’s not gonna happen. That’s how the bug catches you. You think you’re good… until you’re not.
Yes but that’s just ragdoll physics gone wrong and you still see corpses fly off to timbucktoo on occasion now days.
Doesn’t quite hit the same as cats opening your doors to get inside your base XD
Not just any cats.
Only the single skull sabre kittens.
It seems whatever demonic power is enhancing them also allows them to steal the orange cat mono-mind for their nefarious purposes.
And if that’s the case, I recommend they remove it altogether. They did that for transfers since they kept losing characters. I still hope they’ll bring back transfers amidst these fixes, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m well aware of their track record. I think everyone is. We don’t need reminders from cynics.
