I read that we can still play the UE4 version of Conan Exiles in “legacy mode”.
So I looked it up, and it seems that you do this by going to Steam Properties > Game Versions & Betas and selecting “conan-exiles-legacy”.
But the thing is, it re-downloads the Conan Exiles game. Every time you switch.
Is there any way to keep both versions up at the same time? Without a full re-download every time you switch?
Apparently not.
Moreover, you can’t simply upgrade from the new version to the old one while keeping your mods unless you’ve saved the game and your active mod list beforehand.
Apparently what you need to do is rename the main file folder of the Legacy version once it’s on your machine. That way, when you download the Enhanced version it won’t overwrite the original. (Then there’s some things you can do to also link the renamed version to steam, but someone else will have to explain that because I wasn’t really paying attention.)
Some other post on the forums mentioned renaming one of the folders and then downloading the other one. Then you have both but have to flip the folder names when you want to switch.
Just create a desktop shortcut from ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox.exe (or the _BE one BattleEye support), no “folder flip” required then (only the original to have both versions installed…)
