Is there an switch between Legacy and Enhanced Version without downloading it again?

Right now every time I chose the “other” version I have to download the entire client again.
I.E. If my last used version was CE Enhanced and I select the Legacy version to start, I have to download the entire legacy client. Same when I switch back to the enhanced client. Then steam is downloading the enhanced client again.
I have enough space to keep both versions.

To have two copies of one game, you would need to purchase it on a different Steam account.

Why should I purchase two copies if I have the right to use both right now?
I look for an option that I do not have to download the version I want to play.
I.E. the steam client keeps both binaries at different locations or different sub directories and just switch between it.

You can have both copies simultaneously (assuming you have the drive space) -
Rename the main folder for the one you currently have and then download the other, that way it won’t write it to the same location and overwrite the one you already have.

Note - you’ll need to run the one from the renamed folder path by directly running the .exe, so I’d recommend that being the one you use less often. Someone did say there is also a way to link that install backto steam so you can run both from there like normal, but I’m not sure how to do that.

Thank you. I will try it. It looks like a possible solution!
