5K hours and level 300 +1 paragon character… not going to start from scratch.
Been posted several times that the character creation is an issue they are looking into. Last one was posted below.
Thanks for the reply. Not sure if this helps, but my character name and Funcom ID are short 1 character from my Steam ID - Splatterypant instead of Splatterypants
It seems others on our server with longer names are having the same issue.
I have this issue with a very short name (4 characters.)
Although the FuncomID as shown in the friends list (no idea if that is the appropriate spot to get it, but it does say FuncomID right next to it) has a # with a bunch of numbers after it which are not part of my steam name; likely to make it unique as I expect others used the same name. That being said, I thought they went based on your SteamID (which is a gigantic number) rather than your steam profile name since that is guaranteed unique and won’t change (unlike your steam name which allows duplicates, lots of others with mine for example, and is also changeable.)
Might be part of the puzzle though if all the working people have an exact match between the two.

Use direct connect.I have same problem-but with direct connect play yesterday all evening.And try that on 4 servers-all working.

Found my Server in the List but the charakters are missing, we did not create new ones but hope this will be solved, got a server for 2 people and love to build but not everything from scratch again

Same thing happened to a few of us. Out of interest, is your character name quite long?

New update regarding the “lost character” issue.
Our team is looking into this issue and may have identified the core problem. Until we release a fix for it, and as a workaround for those of you who might run into this problem, do not proceed with the character creation process . Exit it and wait for a later time, either a client or server restart.

about character creation, just spamming it here wont helps guys. They are aware of the problem and working on it. Lets just trust them in this that they will solve it.
How about a dang roll back. No one wants this update and it is blocking players from playing and destroying characters! Roll it back! Then do some QA before another update?

Yes! Best Thing funcom can do.
Yesterday I created a new character to check the differences (the identifier was added to the character name, surely because the name is already being used by my real character).
Having created this new character, have I lost my real character?
Close to 24 hours since the total mess the patch has created, some players seam to be able to play but most of us cant, Funcom do you have any idea of what CUSTOMER SERVICE really means?
Its hard to beleive that a MORPG online game cannot roll back to pre-patch status.
And by the way make it so eather WE ALL CAN PLAY or NO ONE CAN PLAY.

Yup.
only real problem is that someone raided us, when we could not get on official server and in evening when we could AFTER raidtime they were like: what update? we could normally log in…and those kind of players are not punished in any way, no rollback…easy offline raid…
