I am not quite sure what you’re getting at, but since you addressed this to me, I can only assume it’s something to do with the earlier discussion? But yes, of course everything here is “free will”, my point is not that Funcom forces us to do anything, except make choices. Depending on specifics, the choice may be to refrain from engaging with Funcom’s monetization model entirely.
Whether implementing those less-than-friendly mechanics (the “buy now or lose out forever” part) are still a net gain to them both in terms of money (short term) and goodwill (long term) is not an answer I can give.
I can give an example: I recently returned to the game after a long hiatus. The Nemedian DLC was in the store, I did not own that, so I picked it up immediately - like most of us here, I own every single DLC at least once, including the Twitch items and both preorder bonus items. I’m a completionist at heart, and I like supporting “good” companies/games. If instead I’d come back to learn that, for example, buying the Aquilonian and Poitain DLCs were now impossible (two of my favorites) because they’d come and gone while I was away, I might well have decided to not come back at all.
I totally agree, I am the same. Yet I feel that some items are merely window dressing, not worthy of my money or attention, and I have the option (free will) to ignore them.
Again, thanks for the kind words. I’m back on the server, building a new castle in the usual spot. Maybe we’ll run into each other, if not one of these days, then when 3.0 hits
Exactly this, exactly.
Even if I don’t like it I will surely support it at the beginning only because I want to help these lights to stay on. Other than that I see for now more conversation about it pointless. All this time we ask and they do, so when it comes, hopefully soon, we will be able to discuss more about it.
What i see very important before the update it’s another live stream. In this live stream however I wouldn’t like to see disappointed audience. A lot of questions were passed through presentation and time limits. So I would beg any brilliant member of this forum to create a post with questions we want or need answers before the update. If we prepare something like this then it will be easier for them to prepare the answers too. The reason this member must be brilliant is because some questions already have taken answers for example will we be able to dye saddles? No.
There is no need for questioning again same things. I am not brilliant, a lot of you are, please someone?
I fully believe this is the case. WAK did a “daggers only” playthrough to challenge himself and make the series interesting by adding limitations. KIAH did something similar by only being able to play in the coldzone.
yeah, I feel most streamers in general are on privates, as they always seem to “win”. Have yet to see a “we got wiped” video on youtube without cheater chants involved.
I have been beaten as much as i have won. And if that is official, then a 3 skull boss should not be beaten with little regard to defense. So its either game is that easy, or “tweaked” settings.
Like i said, officials are not hard once you have 20+hours on them. Not a knock. And i agree, it was only there as background “npise”. The interview was very professional, all be it press junket style. But it was focused and answered alot of theorized worries.
True, but then is not FC then exploiting completionist OCD? Most DLCs are aesthetic. Not needed. All marketing works on some “trick”. FOMO is just the acronym of the month. Should they not do a BP and make NFT dlc instead? Thats a trending acronym right now. And if they did, they would be exploiting collectors personalities. Marketing in its nature is exploiting something. The buyers should always know that. I understand there are some who truly have an issue and will break thier banks for the fear, but that is a way bigger issue that FC is not wholy or uniquely responsible for. That is for another thread entirely, and not necessarily for a game forum.
If they added NFTs to this game this one would never part with a red cent for it again.
Non Fungible Tokens, or rather, the Blockchains or Proof of Work required for them are an odious resource sink.
Mind you, if they weren’t about as sustainable as rolling coal, this one would only find them that special blend of irksome and amusing that all fool and their money were lucky to get together in the first place scams are.
Dude my next Conan video will have a rap in it inspired by you and your hilarious acronyms. I’m loving it.
If I had an absolutely unique, non-copyable digital asset, created by Funcom, I’d use it as my Avatar everywhere. Only Funcom Conan and Joan Cornella NFTs have any value to me.
Are you secretly Ebenezar McCoy from Dresden Files?
Ebenezar tsked. "That’s the problem with you young people, shortening all the words.“
"Too many acronyms?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
“Well, then,” I said, “I’m glad you took the time to RSVP me. I have a problem that needs to stay on the QT, but is rapidly going FUBAR. I’m sorry to call you LD through AT&T, instead of using UPS, but I needed your help ASAP. I hope that’s OK.”
Ebenezar grunted, shot me a sidelong look, and said, “Don’t make me kick your ass.”
