We need a complete overhaul of camps, towns and dungeons

Fighting the NPCs, wildlife and monsters in general is static. Think about fighting the Red Mother, she is the same every single time with only slight randomization of the loot drop.

If, especially, boss enemies had the chance to come with randomized stats and abilities it would create a more dynamic experience. I don’t even know exactly how it would be achieved or look like it’s just a frequent thought I’ve had.

Yeah. I know people who have played Civilization VI for thousands of hours, and most “new content” they get are new playable cultures, which have one or two unique units/buildings and an annoyingly animated ruler toon. There have been a couple of major DLCs that change the “rules”, but for the most part, the game is still the same.

I know people who have played chess for thousands of hours, and that game hasn’t received an update in centuries.

Me, I play many different games. Some for more hours than others. Conan Exiles still easily clocks as my number one game by hours of play.

What I’m trying to say, there’s only so much new content and freshness any game designer can cram into a single game. Inevitably we will reach a saturation point, at which we must choose whether to continue the game as it is, or move on. There’s no way you can get infinite enjoyment from infinite new experiences out of one game, no matter how many-faceted the game is.

That point is called boredom. Most players I’ve met and were bored just went pvp against everyone.

I can’t say I’m bored when I have unfinished “quests” still to do.

:thinking: Either way, the oppressed usually head out after a few wipes. No reason to submiss or dominate?

Why shouldn’t we expect additional content on Conan when many other games have additional content (see new maps) ? Why shouldn’t this game evolve to keep its players (even those who have spent thousands of hours) ? what is bothering you ?

The title of your thread is a complete overhaul of all camps, towns, and dungeons. And I pointed out that it was unprecedented. Others pointed out that it is infeasible.

I did not say that we shouldn’t see development. In fact we already have. So I’ll turn your question back on you. What is bothering you about the development of the game? You’re already getting additional content every update and the game has evolved.

If that’s all you’re requesting, then you already have what you want and you should be fine to play for the next 500,000-600,000+ hours of your life.

Where / how do you get this information?

No one’s arguing against that idea, you’re twisting peoples’ words to mean something they don’t.

Additional content has been happening, and will continue to happen going forward. Additional content is fine, it’s good, but that doesn’t mean that your specific suggestion is good or could reasonably be implemented given the time, money and resources it would take to make it happen.

Everyone has things they wish could be done with the game but are simply not realistic. I’ll bet everyone in this thread could give you an example of something they wish could/would be added to Conan that can’t ever happen. In no way is anyone arguing that additional content is bad, what they’re telling you is that the specific additional content you suggested when you started this thread is simply not a reasonable expectation.

Have you forgotten that FC has released additional content 7 times in the last 23 months, with more coming? It may not be the specific additional content that you’re hopeing for, but all of that still counts as additional content.

Yes, that would be cool, but it’s (almost certainly) not going to happen.

Unfortunately Siptah fell short of expectations, both game-wise and financially, which means it’s not likely we’ll see a new map anytime soon. Obviously in large part that’s FC’s fault, but it’s still the reality that wew have to deal with. FC goofed with Siptah and that’s not something we players can fix for them. Yes, it would be nice to see more maps, but Conan just never gained a large enough player base to overcome problems like this.

Just for some perspective, look at how many players other survival games have right now compared to Conan.

30 day average
Rust = 95,974
7 Days to Die = 63,801
Palworld = 32,604
ARK: Survival Evolved = 25,883
ARK: Survival Ascended = 13,084
Valheim = 19,358
Conan Exiles = 5,166
The Forest = 4,689

I mean… The Forest, seriously? The Forest has almost as good of a 30-day average as Conan does. Looking at those numbers, it would be a huge gamble for FC/Tencent to try to release another map. It takes a whole lot of time & money to release a map and for a game this size it could be possible that a bad map release would be enough to wreck the game’s finances.

We could spend days talking about what other games did right and Conan did wrong, but honestly that discussion simply doesn’t matter. What matters is reality, and the reality of the situation is that it’s extremely unlikely that FC will ever release another Conan map. New content is almost guaranteed to be limited to the new chapters coming out.

Which is has been doing, and will continue to do.

While it’s understandable that you might want it to evolve faster, or more, or bigger, but unfortunately that’s not feasible with the player base and business model that’s supporting this game.

All dead games to not even be considered. You are wasting your time. Refer to this chart and do not deviate unless you like playing games alone:

I can’t tell if that’s some sort of strange, possibly satirical, joke or if you just have a bizarro-world idea off what constitutes a “dead” game.

Its a satire (the use of comic sans should make that evident) of the so called bizarro-world people live in when trying to explain that a game requires a certain number of players because other games have a certain number of players.

Apparently the shoe fits while still in the mouth. :laughing:

A random article from a random website that nobody read and can’t even spell Dregs correctly, but it is only briefly mentioned at the very end and doesn’t seem like something they would just make up:

This is what has bothered me for some time in some player feedback. They seem to argue that no development has happened, or no new content has been released, when in truth they mean that their own personal wishlists have not been added to the game. I guess to these people, the sun didn’t rise on mornings when they slept in. It’s not that they missed it, the sunrise didn’t happen, and it doesn’t matter that some irrelevant people (ie. everyone else) saw it and claim that it happened.

But, everyone is the center of their own universe, I guess.

i’ve often thought, since the bazaar went live, why the haven’t dressed the world map up with the bazaar items. Of course placing the items in appropriate areas. Like if there’s something in the bazaar that’s Black Hand/pirate themed, then place it at the galleon and over at buccaneer bay, or if its an armor set, have one of the npcs actually walking around in that armor (of course it wont drop in their loot pool). Then players can go over there and actually see it displayed. From a “business” point of view giving players a hands a on look at the items would be a better sales format, plus the camps and main npc bases would start getting a more detailed and lived in look as they would constantly get little additions and changes. Then over time those areas would look and feel pretty different, and you’d get those “remember back then what this place looked lke” conversations between players. Also there are plenty of “you are not allowed to build here” areas around the map that literally have nothing on them. First thing that comes to mind is those lone towers littered throughout the map you cant build near. you can set up some enemy camps there or something, also those 3 big towers near new Asguard. That whole area can be an Age expansion by itself if they fleshed it out with content.
