What do people look for in a server that will make them join?

Which game mode are you asking for? People who play PVE look for different things than those who play PVP. There are overlaps, of course.

What I look for:
PVE private server
AoC
EEWA
Pippi
Purge enabled

optional/nice to have
Glass constructions and more
No support needed roof pieces
Niflheim teleportation
Tier 4 thralls - medium increased spawn
Better thralls
Infinite stamina
Litman item stack and container size
Fashionist
pickup+
Less building placement restrictions
Sexiles

What I tend to look for (and haven’t found yet):

  • PVE-C (no building damage)
  • player damage 24/7 or as close to as possible
  • few or no mods (stuff like Pippi, LBPR, IQOL, Fashonist, Pickup+ is fine, but no AoC or anything like that)
  • multipliers that are within the ranges of official servers or reasonably close
  • Purge enabled with minimum online players set to 1
  • not configured to keep all your inventory on you when you die
  • clear and well-enforced rules on how much you can build and where you shouldn’t build – not too restrictive, but not unbounded either
  • good enough ping

One thing I would love, but I’m not even sure whether it’s possible, is a server without global chat. I’ve come to realize that one of the big reasons PVE-C never has any conflict is because people are either all friends or totally toxic on global chat. The existence of global chat makes it impossible to role play as an Exile who is hostile on sight (just like NPCs are). Anyway, that’s a tangent.

It is definitely possible as I have seen servers that do not have global chat enabled. They also do not have player names enabled so you have to find out by you know…ASKING.

That line up is great but I do like some others as well. And definitely NO aoc (though it’s almost impossible to find anymore).

Those are usually fairly common but sadly not always.

We just launched a server that is so close to this list, and have active members that have been waiting for launch. The only difference is a small, 2-hour weekend-only raid damage window. I didn’t want to be that guy that tries to server promo at anyone asking, but this list so just so close to what we just launched not to.
