Why I'm not a cat person

OK so my cat story. Yeah I got a cat. I tamed a cat. I put the cat in my sacrificial area because…WTF am I supposed to do with this cat.

So a few days of doing my thing and the cat watches me and then it happens. The cat gets a brilliant AI and suddenly pushes me away and sits right where I need to be to sacrifice. WILL NOT MOVE! Well needless to say, i don’t have a cat anymore.

The one I tamed walked around the room where my bed is and proceeded to walk onto the bed and sit down.

99% sure he took a sh*t on it.

They are also pain in the butt in leveling.

I did so, so they won’t die everytime some rocknose finds a way into my base and decide to attack the kitty. I ended up on lvl 6 with all three of them, and have enough of this, tbh.
Those cat’s won’t follow you. They teleport with you only when they decide, in other cases they just stay at the last obelisk.

The obelisk areas are also “no thrall allowed”, so you can not even move them anywhere else, to return them to your base, because you can’t place them in that area and slowly move them by replacing. So they stay there and can die because someone dragged some monsters or wildlife to your maproom or the area the kitties decided to stay on.

After maybe hour of hard trying to take them back home, I decided to not to do this anymore. They are in my base just because, not bothering with them anymore, EVER.

So what we all are saying here is that FC did a great job at making cats in the game. they are just as infuriating as the ones in real life.

Well, maybe… All my real life cat’s had been following me everywhere, one was going with me for walks into the naturee and came on call like dog, without any leashes.

Every pet is different. Those kitties in CE are really better to serve as decoration, I would not recommend anyone to take them out, it’s not worth it.

They could at least repair that teleport-respawn in following matter, because this kinda ruins enjoying them for me.

Simple as that, i am not a cat person because i am a dog person! Since we don’t have mice on the game cats are useless, lol.
Tbh, i am thinking on single player to fix a pyramid with Derceto religion in the middle and place some cats there! I think they will fit there just fine.
On 8006 the first thing i did with my tortoise before i start moving is to celebrate the maturity of the animal and set it free (break bonds) to the nature. It was good as it lasted, so bye bye (good riddance) my sweat (ball breaker) tortoise!

I really like the idea of house animal companions. Cats, dogs, turtles, any will do.
I did not like the fact that I had to tame the cat in the animal pen. I really thought I would just place it in my base and that would be enough.
The other thing I did not like is that as soon as I opened a door my cats ran out :scream_cat:!
I live pretty close to some crocodiles :crocodile:, so the fate of the (sometimes invisible) kittens was sealed.
By the way, I do not know much about cats IRL, but my wife was troubled with the sound the cats make. She’s raised several kittens before, and thinks it is the call of a sad cat looking for someone :flushed: (and now I think that way too).

I remembered this piece. I don’t know who wrote it.

The Cat’s Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities.

However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He has obviously gone mad.

The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.

Yeah, I dislike the fact that those pets block your companion limit, although they are just decoration and no fighters.

Simply awesome :+1:t6:, i lmao, thanks a million @speedice!

Cats are almost like this true , but they have their tender hours! They do enjoy scratching and your touch near their heart that beats like a machine! They can become protective and on their weak moments they trust only one human, i would say their boss but they have none, so i say human. If anyone else from the family will go near in these moments, is in trouble!
They are difficult animals in this part but way easier than dogs, because they are independent!
I have 2 seperated yards. In my front yards, Conan and Bella lives! In my back yard i have 3 cats that they keep coming for food, water and sometimes a nap. I don’t like animals in house but i don’t blame the ones that do. Other than that i live in a Greek island and we never have real cold here. But when we do have cold (really rare) i have to do something for them too. These days are difficult, there for i admire people that have 24/7 animals in their house, i couldn’t do this!

Well guys, I’ve always been a cat person, then I got myself a puppy.

Although I love her, I am almost 100% sure I will never do this again. Dogs are too much responsibility, they are too reliant to their masters and the puppy age, until the dog is fully grown mentally (approx 2 years), is really something similar to have actual human baby. They are needy, pestering others, thinking that when they don’t sleep, everyone has to dance around them whenever they wish to, etc etc…

Ambient pets are much better implemented in a mod. Unfortunately I don’t recall which one, but I think it’s Exiles Extreme. You craft a bed or feeding bowl or something and place it somewhere. Wherever you place it a pet appears and roams the area. It’s not a follower, so can’t be attacked and doesn’t affect your follower count. You don’t have to worry about interacting with it to move it, you just move its bed.

The cat AI in game is, when taken in context of Thrall and other entity AI, about spot on.
This one could wax loquacious about how felines do not deserve the bad wrap they have because many “pet trainers” are actually just dog trainers and are trying to grow apples in an orange field. Felines and canines have different base social units and behaviors and teaching them is a very different processes. Likewise, how they express camaraderie and affection is very different.
Blah blah blah.

But in short, if they weren’t so memory intensive, this one would argue pet cats in game should not count to follower limits. But as matters stand, they are an excellent flex. A way for one to show they don’t need all their thrall slots, they can burn them on a kitten that has extremely self destructive tendencies. Perhaps they should even give the weakest of entertained buffs.
But the same is true of the Siptah turtles.
