I came across this once before and saw a thrall trying to kill a low-level creature and not doing any damage. This time I made a video of it.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
To be clear, the guard was dying, and it would eventually have been killed by the Hyenas if I had let the fight go on long enough without interfering. I know that because I saw a thrall die before from the same thing, and it was killed by something that it could have killed in one shot.
For the purpose of the bug report, is there any other details you can provide? Like, how the situation unfolded to begin with.
Were you running in from a distance away and saw it happening, and when you got closer it was showing what is seen in the video? Were you already in the area and saw the Thrall engage the two Hyenas?
I was riding along and picked up the hyenas on aggro, as I rode by the base, I stopped to let the guard kill them off. She killed the first 3 of them, but the last one she couldn’t kill. I watched it for several minutes while I got my video stream software going. Then recorded the above video. At no time was the fight not in my range.
I have watched my own guards fight hyenas in close proximity and do no damage. I have to step in and kill them myself sometimes.
