I remember hearing from somewhere that the witch doctor feats undead hyenas, Cappas, skeletons and lizard man skeletons were removed because the Devs felt it didn’t fit in with the 3.0 sorcery update.
Now due to a recent bug in the bazaar for a very limited time 5min I believe you could buy the bone conjuror pack that includes a skeleton dog. So what’s the story? I can’t have skeleton soldiers or undead cappas because they don’t fit in but I can have a skeleton dog and undead Rhino cause those do fit in apparently but I gotta pay💰? Please bring the witch doctor feats back and not as Bazaar items.
The reason they dont fit is one of game design, not that they are undead. Zombies are now a completely different mechanic and you can have multiple of them, with their limited lifespan. Human thralls also wont pal around with undead. You also dont level zombos; they are born with all they’ll ever be. The old undead were pets, using the same pet mechanics, and you crafted them from components, not other thralls.
If you want the old mechanic, they left it in the devkit for people to mod in.
I don’t care for old game mechanics I agree the early way of getting them was odd I simply want them back either as skins for current pets or the ability to summon skeletons instead of Zombies in a future update.
I just don’t want to hear them say that the undead cappas and hyenas were never meant to be in the game then see them in some undead skin Halloween pack later in the Bazaar.
Well they didnt say that. They said the old undead system didn’t fit. Nothing they said precludes variants coming back later.
I didn’t say they said it I said I don’t want to hear them say it.
There was nothing stopping them from adding skeletons into the summoning grave with the zombies or simply making the undead cappas or hyenas into the taming pen with the 3.0 update.
Items that were once in the game that players used and like were removed like the witch doctor feats and the cross bows. Will Funcom bring them back in the future for free or will they be Bazaar items? That’s all I want to now just some clarification from a Dev would be nice.
You arent going to get future development plans in a forum post.
Also a couple points. Hyenas are not dogs. No more than a zombie is a skeleton. Second, the skins in the battlepass/bazaar have been on top of pets provided in the updates. There is a special cat in battlepass because cats are in the game. Special horses/rhinos because horses/rhinos are in the game. If they give a special undead hyena or kappa it will be because they are in the game at that time.
It would be good if we could feed pets corrupt stone and get zombie variants tho or maybe pu worker thralls into the grave and get undead workers.
Its possible probably, but it might be hard for them to justify; maybe not, who knows. There is still a chapter 3 to Age of Sorcery so maybe we will finally get the ever mentioned “settlement system” and there could be a “barbarian settlement” vs a “sorcerer/necromancer settlement” style. I would put the odds of it being included low if its just a random add, but if its part of a larger theme of a new system, it could happen.
True it probably is asking to much for some conformation but then again wolf pups aren’t foxes and if i can make a lion black why can’t I make hyena a dead hyena? They could include the skins in a BP that I don’t mind.
Well, maybe they would include them like the undead horse but I doubt it because as you initally imply; they are asking money for battlepass/bazaar and they dont want to sell you a preexisting thing. Maybe if they make it spectral or something so its “fancier”. You can actually still spawn the old pets if not on officials from the admin panel too.
To be honest I wouldn’t mind buying them if they enhance the look maybe visually make them a bit more rotten.
Currently I have a mod to re add the WD book back but it doesn’t work on Siptah so yes iv summoned undead cappas and skeleton warriors back on my Siptah base with the admin.
Will Witch doctor feats become future Bazaar items?
No.
The old undead still exist in the game and can still even be crafted if you have admin and use the unlock all knowledge option. A lot of people still own legacy undead, I have several fridges crammed full of them. Bazaar items are exclusives, these undead cannot be exclusive because they already exist.
Could they be added alternatively as skins and not actual pets? Possibly, but they wouldn’t be unique, so I highly doubt it.
And those sitting emots also once existed at a time some players still have legacy sitters till this day but apparently those emots were accidentally unlocked unlocked according to Funcom but what’s stopping Funcom from doing something similar with the WD stuff? Only the future can tell us. I just want to know how or when will they be reimplemented in the game.
“When” is making a bit of an assumption there, but how has an answer.
Den has said that if the old undead are ever added back, they will use the new sorcery system.
That sounds good I would like them to be re implemented into the new system. Also who’s Den?
Cool thanks for the link I check it out.
I am hoping they will be back but the new system doesn’t even count undead status so I am fearful we aren’t going to get the same thing that we had. It will probably be skins for thralls currently in the game.
I have an idea based off intuition, that a major shareholder had something to do with the removal of the witchdoctor feat. There are several articles you can search online that discuss a cultural bias a country has against skeletons. I’m not referring to the general population. This is about government compliance. Funcom wants Conan Exiles to sell all over the world. This may involve compliance with restrictions set by a foreign government. Research it yourself. In a search box, type something like “banning skeletons games”. Apparently, the largest gaming market on earth has a problem with skeletons. Game developers don’t want anything blocking the sale of their games.
All of the Witchdoctor skeletons still exist as enemies in the game, so there goes that theory.
