This is the third time I’ve lost a thrall for no apparent reason. I’m playing on the official server #1000. Should I expect to lose more? It’s a shame to waste so much energy.

Yes, until they fix the Living Settlement System either you have to live with this, break it or stop playing.
I’m not trying to sound rude, it’s just the reality of current affairs.
