X-box one i cannot pick up any food items. Please help i have tried everything i can think of

Game mode: Singleplayer
Problem: Bug

I cannot pick up any short of item what ever, even spawning it in my inventory. Nothing is showing up in my inventory. so game says i picked it up but, nothing is in my inventory.

I have cleared my save data local & Xbox live changed nothing
reinstalled the game changed nothing.
Everything is up to date. game is fully updated.
this has been happening for a few months now

Steps on how to reproduce issue:

  1. go create new character
  2. play game
  3. collect food item
  4. won’t show up in inventory.

please help me

This could be completely wrong, but has it gone straight to the radial wheel instead of your inventory? I know on PS4 if you pick up food and have a spare slot in the radial menu it goes straight there and won’t appear in your inventory.
Otherwise, have you accidentally changed the inventory preferences? If so, it may not be showing foods.
Other than that, I have no idea. Sounds like a really crap bug for a survival game if you can’t eat.
I realise you said it’s been happening for months, have you ever been able to eat? Or is this something new?

it started once the purge was added in

ok i just tested it out and the grubs had were there thanks a million i let you guys know if anything else does not appear.
