Not necessarily, where to accept purge and how to build still remains on players choice and responsibility.
I buy banners and put on the front line zombies or golems. My thralls are all behind, i do not allow them to engage. I have a big square before the treasury and they all wait there. I did it this way to protect them from official bad performance, a simple “connection lost” can end up tragic and until you log in thralls and buildings can be lost.
So the way it is, npcs have narrow passage, they cannot come in masses, and my thralls will outnumber them no matter what. Simple doorframes without doors can create collision in the npc walk through, it gives huge advantage to thralls and cauldrons.

In this challenge i lost about 200 thralls and pets lol.
They all die to serve a cause, my gaming pleasure
