3.0 Sorcery Megathread

Hopefully using admin commands will turn off the xp gain. I would slay goats or rabbits or whatever really to my hearts content so long as it worked in single player. If it doesn’t then I’ll have no desire to spend money on the battle pass. I do appreciate your insights. Hopefully once the 21st rolls around all our minds will be at ease

Like everyone else, I share the same concern and others. At the same time I do understand the game needs to be funded. Funcom could’ve decided to stop full development on Conan after official release and focused on something else but they didn’t. They chose to push through and fix the game as humanely possible with an engine that is quite hard to work on. My only concern is how this will affect private servers, and if FOMO ( Fear of Missing Out ) will be a thing with these battle passes. No one likes missing out on items or cosmetics, so as long as we can retroactively obtain said items even if we didn’t buy the battle pass on day one, then its fine with me.

Question for Funcom: Will there be “Sorcerer thralls” in the game?

Crafting bench type Sorcerer thralls?
Defensive (“archer”) type Sorcerer thralls?

Valid question, new ranged defenders would be sweet.

Another issue facing the 3.0 update regarding the in-game store and battlepass system is the current economic situation in the world, specifically in the United States (who I imagine is a major ‘cash cow’ for Funcom’s income). The United States is facing rising energy costs, rising gasoline and travel expense, food shortages, and rising inflation. The amount of disposable income is getting smaller and smaller (expected to get worse in the next six to nine months if projections hold). I hope their CFO (Chief Financial Officer) is keeping an eye on the entertainment market and current economic situation when applying a price tag to these new items. The option to buy stuff with “spare money” is getting smaller and smaller in the foreseeable future.

Question for Funcom: Will ‘magic using’ bosses, like the Witch Queen, be getting some updated animations and abilities from the Sorcery 3.0 update?

Preferred the existing cultural dlc packs. The battlepass / in game shop just sounds predatory. Don’t really want another ESO, WoW, ToR, Helix store, Shark Card model, where every cosmetic item can be sold seperately at a ridiculous price. Nor do I want yet another paid subscription.

Emotes, hairstyles, body customizations in the battle passes? Since DLC are discountued.

There’s a possibility that the whole illusion thing may be a client-only effect. You can see what you want, but everyone else will still see what you really have on.

HA! ESO, WoW and ToR- when was the last time you really needed to pay attention so you didnt die in those games ? main world not dungeons.

You want that cool out fit? youll pay. And if you think people wont pay, think again.

Mando suit or obi wan outfit in ToR ?- snapped up as soon as it came out. Despite all the whining.

So it seems to me gaming companies know their client base rather well.

Existential dread rising: Tencent, masters of exploitation now adding battle-passes and Conan Coins.

God this is going to be such a train wreck. Maybe even a Hindenburg.

I expect we’ll hear in the next year or two that Conan Exiles is being transferred to direct control of Tencent so they can make sure to crank up the “free to play” aspect soon.

No offense, but I really hope you’re bad at predicting the future. That’s a scenario I hope never comes to pass.

Just to note, regarding the battle pass request to “clear an event”… The actual sizable point one…
Grave Matters had horrible difficulty in Single Player mode across the platforms. The event just may not be possible in Single Player…

As for goats and feathers.
Good.
This one wants more people to grab them in Single Player rather than rushing to the (significantly reduced number of) official servers. As for Private servers, hopefully the quests can be accomplished on those. This one wonders if Savage Wilds and other modded maps will be valid harvest points?

See I thought it wasn’t that bad. Wine cellar was worse than grave matters.

Over the course of the entire event this one had exactly one event spawn for Grave Matters in Single Player.
PS4, also saw several friends on Xbox with the same issue.
Offline play didn’t really seem to mesh well with it.

This - there’s still a fair amount of janky crap that happens in singleplayer. On the upside, at least the komodo dragons actually spawn in The Dregs for me now.

Unless NPCs have sorcery, anti sorcery is not needed. PvP is not figured intonthe pve 3.0 patch. It will remain the same game loop. Find meta and use it.

Not really - they said its instead of the DLC packs.

I own most of the DLC packs and have found them a tremendous addition to the game. Personally I’d prefer they just keep releasing them but allowing me to pick and choose what i purchase from them, I’m all for that.

I am only concerned about the pricing of the elements. If they do what some companies do and charge exhorbitant amounts for various things, I’ll be pretty pissed.

For example - a typical DLC pack is around $15 AUD. With that you get a full building set, usually a few armours, weapon skins and cosmetic placeables. If they’re say charging $15 for a building set alone, that’s bad form.

I see exploit if BP is in privates. Imagine a hacker figuringbout how to increase BP xp by 100…so my guess is these will be official xp gains only. Privates will have to buy the xp.

I’m with you here. I’m hoping by having the Battle Pass tab and the Bazaar tab in the actual game menu itself (next to Clan, followers, stats, etc) that will save Funcom costs. For example, I think Steam listings pay out a portion of a sale to Steam, although I could be wrong, but if I’m right then the price of a listing goes up to help offset that payout to steam. Hopefully, by selling a building set here, a decoration set there within the game itself will keep costs of the assets lower. But who knows, we will have to wait for a confirmed answer on that.
