3.0 Update removing ability to have placeables in inventory?

Something I noticed in the stream today is that is looks like placeables cannot be in your inventory anymore as you have to craft them from the build menu and you cannot pick them back up anymore (just destroy).
That sounds like a massive downside of the new build system and I hope it is not true.
(Maybe you will still be able to do that but use up inventory items first?)

Currently decorating often means placing and picking up, and placing again and picking up again until things sit “right”, so destroying the placeable everytime is a big downside (outside of creative mode that is only for admins)
We often don’t have all the feats either in our clan so placeables are built by someone and stored in a chest for the decorator. (Same for build pieces actually)
Often even traded with other people in RP servers.
Also there are several that exist only as drops both in the base game and in mods.
Can you clarify how this is going to work?

OK, so from what I watched that looked to be in creative mode, not in normal mode. I would assume that you can still pick things up when building things normally but in creative since you can spawn them in infinitely there is no reason to need to pick them up. At least, that is my interpretation of what I watched.
