First off, Funcom, I’d like to say that I love how CE looks in UE5. Funny how someone said it couldn’t be done back in the day due to how much the UE4 engine was modified. Hmmm…yet here we are. Also, as depicted in the attached photo, my Conan still looks better than your height impaired imposter. Why? Perhaps review Howard’s description of Conan and Frazetta’s paintings.

Okay, enough of that. I put CE down a looong time ago out of not just the frustration from the early access growing pains, but also post early access issues and the fact that my sister passed away. We put a lot of hours in CE and I couldn’t get back into it after. She loved the game. I’ve been drawn back in by the UE5 update and as I’ve stated, it looks great and it looks different enough for me not to get broken up when I pass my sister’s old build sites.
I have a rocky past here at the Funcom forums and have expressed my frustration, distain and anger, shall we say, less stoically than I do now. I’ve been a Robert E. Howard fan my entire life and am now old and retired. I’m still very, very passionate about the character and my passion for the game has been mildly rekindled.
Funcom and Infusion, nicely done on the upgrade…except the dang thing’s full of bugs. This is why I cringe when a game I like gets a big update. The worst of it to me is probably the hit detection desync and the UI bugs. I’ve had to restart the game numerous times from the UI bugs and for me, well, the hit detection desync is kinda game breaking and makes me not want to play. I don’t like when my strikes go through enemies as if they aren’t there and then I get railroaded and killed.
But I digress, I’m not writing this to give a bug report. I’ve done a few of those already. I’m simply here to express my concern in a less abrasive manner than in days of yore. This feels like early access all over again and I really don’t like that feeling. Early access was not a fun time for me and I no longer buy early access titles thanks to that.
I sincerely hope the update on the 21st will deal with the more disruptive bugs, preferably to a larger than smaller degree. I’m in no frame of mind to repeat an early access experience with a game that by now should be pretty solid. Good luck with the bug extermination efforts and my sincere thanks to all involved for the free UE5 upgrade. I’d have spent a little more money at the Bazaar, but it seems you’ve priced me out of that. But that’s okay, I have all the original DLC’s to enjoy…albeit it confounds me why those weren’t expanded upon.
Respect and regards,
Pike a.k.a. BigDave
