Well done. Alienated a good portion of players

Nothing like being shown the sh*%#y diaper before slapping our face with it. Wanted to put a pox on you but you have done it to yourself. The villagers are angry and you have lit their torches.

I am not following, who got alienated? and why do you think so? essentially funcom announced conan exiles 2, with better graphics for >>>>free<<<<, it is optional as far i know to play it, and UE4 will still have servers on both maps, so what is it that is wrong?

Consoles don’t get the upgrade. So it looks like they are getting maintenance mode instead. They are essentially being told they will get no new content, just essential fixes. But they can still make purchases from the Bazaar (to pay for new content for PC
).
Microsoftstore/Gamepass/Edip Store don’t even get that - they get no update, get no access to the Bazaar, or any official servers, and will receive no further updates or fixes. They just get to play on the old, unfixed version, but even then only on private servers or singleplayer.

So it’s understandable that a large portion of the player base are upset. They have paid towards the upgrades (by supporting the bazaar) and they receive nothing. All of this after promises had been made that there would no longer be differences between the different platforms - all would get the same game at the same time (or as near as certification would allow).

Well, I have to say, this is probably the end for me. I have Conan on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games, but all my Bazaar items are on the Microsoft Store

And i put up with bugs, unstable servers, hackers, and countless moments of frustration caused by server errors, but in the end, what made me quit the game was this lol

But this is the standard in pretty much every single game, PC gets the updates, expansions first, same thing in path of exile, i bet you it will come but it takes time, and we gotta now remember this here is a completely free update, dont let yourselves get riled up about them upgrading their game, one platform at a time.

Ironically, UE5 belongs to Epic Games (PC), which also won’t be receiving the update

Except that, as I already pointed out, promises were made that this wouldn’t happen again for CE. That consoles would receive the same updates as PC. These promises have now been gone back on. The official statement says:
Will the update be released on other platforms and console?

While there are no current plans, we are considering bringing the update to Epic Games Store, MS store, Xbox and PlayStation platforms later.

‘No current plans’. Not, were working on it but it will take longer, so consoles/other PC users will need to be patient - just ‘No current plans’ while they ‘consider’ it. That is why people are, quite reasonably getting upset. Because to most people that sounds a lot more like ‘we’re not going to do it, but we’ll wait a while to make that announcement’.

As for it being a completely free update - not really. It is an update that has been paid for by people buying from the Bazaar. A large portion of that money came from the very people who are now not getting access - and it looks to them like they won’t get access in future. In addition, Funcom’s history shows that the most effective way to actually get them to bring the update to consoles etc is to make clear how upset people are that they appear to not be doing it.

Well then be upset then by this free anniversary upgrade in a video game :man_shrugging: you cant give out something free anymore without upsetting someone, somewhere apparently

Well’, that’s actually how things work. It’s a bit weird, but we seem to be wired that way.

You probably know this piece:

IRL, I use to put it this way:

If you’re a kindergarten teacher, and you have 19 pieces of chocolate, but 20 kids, than no kids gets any chocolate. Any other system of distribution will lead to tears.

And the same is true here. Giving the PC players something and the console players nothing doesn’t go down smoothly. The reasons are perfectly valid, and I support the decision in principle. But there should at least be something for the console crowd, even if it’s cucumber.

I would argue it is something in the uprising, i was taught to be patient, and be happy for my sister if she got something and i dident, that aside! there likely is a reason for this, console updates/releases is always more difficult, as they have to struggle with sony, and have to get everything legal right, before they can even consider it, but this is not something shared with us players usually.

“Releases and updates are generally more difficult and slower on Sony consoles (PlayStation) than on PC because Sony enforces a strict certification (cert) process. While PC platforms like Steam allow developers to push updates instantly, Sony requires all console content to pass through quality assurance testing to ensure security and stability.”

Its not PC folks get something and console players don’t
it’s PC players get to continue playing a live game and console get a retired game.

I think if you want this process changed, you would have to debate it on sony’s forums, it really arent as easy as you may think, this is why every single time it takes 6 months+ more to push updates to consoles, i can guarentee you that this here isent funcom saying “bloody console players they can wait” but it is true for every single multiplatform game out there, there is no exception, they are forced to go through this process with Sony.

You seem to have completely misunderstood. I have no need to be patient, I am receiving the benefit. I have tried multiple times to explain to you why other people are upset, because you seem determined to tell them they have no right to be upset - which is a great way to make people more p*ssed off.

As for Sony’s certification process - we are all aware of that. But that doesn’t prevent Funcom from being able to say ‘We do plan to release this update for consoles in due course, but we do not have a timetable for that yet’. Instead they have said they ‘Have no plan to release for consoles’. That is the opposite of the hypothetical scenario you are inisting is the case.

I am not upset because I am not receiving something. I am receiving it. I am upset that many other people, including friends of mine, are being treated so poorly and I think they are justified in being upset to be treated so poorly. And Funcom breaking promises to not do exactly the thing they are currently doing is not good for any of us. That has nothing to do with delays that might be caused by Sony’s certification process. Everyone is familiar with those delays - it has everything to do with Funcom openly stating they aren’t planning on even trying.

Except it doesn’t take 6 extra months for every update to console. Most updates to console come out 2 weeks after PC. And again - this isn’t about Sony’s certification process - this is about Funcom openly stating 'they 'are ‘Not considering’ updating for consoles. That is a very different thing.

And people like you going around telling console players they have no right to be upset are like the unpleasant child that gets everything they want and then lords it over the other kids, laughing at them and telling them they should ‘just be patient’.

And after years of what we thought was a good business relationship

You always have a choice here in life, be upset at something you cannot change or be happy with what you have! thats me going elsewhere, where the sun shines.

Seriously try read what you just wrote up aloud to yourself, “treated so poorly” how on earth did you somehow turn the announcement of a free anniversary update, into treating someone poorly? “hey im mad on behalf of someone” because of an update in a videogame! i hope the sun will shine upon you tomorrow, and wash your concerns away, and bring you a bright future with good laughs, and good company :sun:

And PC gets the game version we console players paid for with our bazaar and dlc purchases for the past several years. Don’t forget that fact.

Glad we could do our part @Community !

Free update that will bring back 100k players potentially from the good old days. What do you mean alienating?

Because it is exactly what happens here. Don’t forget: People on PC who were unfortunate enough to buy the game and items at the “wrong“ store will lose access to official servers and bazaar, so they lose all progress on said servers and the ability to play online. They lose their Crom Coins (ore have to spend them for things they might not actually want, before 2026-5-4. They effectively lose.

Same for all your Siptah progress: You lose all of your buildings, regardless of your choice of store.

Console users don’t lose anything so far (let’s see how many servers will be shut down, there is no communication about that so far), but it’s pretty clear there is nothing new to expect in the future, so they might lose their interest in this game. (Actually they (me at least) win something: More money to spend on other games.)

Forcing someone to lose something without giving some time, some explanations, some compensation, some kind words, some something is what I would call „poor treatment“ (of customers, btw!).

Which is what we are accustomed to by Funcom. No need to sugarcoat this.

But certainly I applaud to the fact they do still care about their product and put much work and effort in it as it seems. Just sad I will most probably not be able to expirience it for myself.
