Over the last 8 years we have fought side by side, battling the evil that infects the Exiled Lands. We have sliced our way through monsters, soldiers and gods and left pools of blood in our wake. We have suffered the sting of defeat and soared with the glory of victory. We have forged savage weapons and built magnificent structures. Our walls have fallen and we’ve rebuilt stronger than ever.
But even the most hardened warrior cannot fight forever. It is now time for the war-weary to lay down our swords and find a life of peace.
We have made the extremely difficult decision to end active support for our devoted console players. We understand the disappointment and hurt we have caused with this sudden announcement, but please know we did not take this decision lightly. In the interests of full transparency, we are not currently considering adding this update to consoles, and while we know this is not want you want to hear, you deserve the honest truth.
We value each and every one of you for your love, support and dedication for the console versions of Conan Exiles for the past years. it has been an honor to welcome you to the Exiled Lands. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
The entire Conan team at Funcom
How hard would that have been? that literally took me five minutes. Instead we got a side comment in dev notes.
Well that’s because they didn’t want to be definitive about it. They wanted to see what the public outcry would be and then they could backtrack without looking wishy washy. You are asking for accountability on the direction of the game and c-suite folks don’t do that.
Look, let’s compare this to the reactions to the question of whether the pre-order bonuses, Conan’s armor and sword, would ever be available later… the answer was unequivocal: NO, NEVER.
The reactions to the UE5 switch have also been similarly vague so far. It’s not happening…
Now, with these statements, they’ve relieved themselves of all the pressure and can calmly get on with their work without constantly having to answer questions or meet expectations. Funcom certainly loves its console gamers just as much. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have tortured us PC players for years with the %$x) console UI. Or rather, supported the various console versions. How many are there, actually, four? I could also complain because I probably won’t be able to play it with my hardware after the update.
Let’s give it some time. You know that things aren’t going as smoothly as planned. Maybe console players will be the only ones who can even play for the rest of May.
… (To all PC gamers, I’m just trying to cheer him up, it’ll be alright guys)
I feel bad for @Dana dealing with this all by herself. She’s been around for a long time, answering our questions, engaging with us both here and when they were actually doing live stream updates. She’s always done so with a gracious attitude and kind demeanor. And every time the higher ups get another “bright” idea, she and all the past community managers have had to clean up the mess to the best of their abilities. I get it, she gets paid for this work, but I want to acknowledge her for doing her best with what she’s subjected to… and sticking to it after all these years. It clearly hasn’t been easy. Is she the last active CM here or what?
The only one for about the past year. It’s great to have her back, and I sincerely hope that the current sh*tstorm doesn’t drive her away (though I get the impression the total absence of CMs until Dana returned was more a management decision rather than something they chose).
But no they are not going to offer closure. They will state that there is no intention to support consoles or any PC versions that is not Steam. No intention no plans. Teasing taunting enticing people to maintain. Hope to consider remaining a customer. Thinking that if only they spend enough if only they voice their support, enough of their dealer will give them another hit.
If you buy enough of Dune on console, maybe we will consider updating Conan for you. You know demonstrate that the console market deserves attention and is still profitable.
Of course the community manager will be expected to deal with this. And in all honesty from the replies this one has seen their message has just a slightly more hopeful tone. Slightly. Not enough that this one would ever expect it. You know like that enhanced version for the PS5. Or maybe them finishing the pets rework ever. That said, it is the community manager’s job to manage the community. It’s their job to make us more positively inclined towards Funcom. This one always keeps that in mind when reading any community managers statements and comparing it more official releases. The Candyman sells sugar. That is their job. This one does not despise the Candyman for selling sugar. But this one does not mistake the sugar being sold for a full meal.
Just a simple question, when was the last time an update came out for Conan exiles on all three platforms at the same time?
Also are any console players losing the game?
Are people that bought it through the Epic store losing the game?
And even though they say there are no plans to bring the enhanced update to consoles or the epic store remember there were no plans to bring it to UE5 either, yet here it comes.
Now you want to get funcoms attention start a thread politely asking it be brought to your console, publisher of choice, and have people sign in to it.
I don’t know what triggered this “delirium” or which muse touched you , but it’s very beautiful m8 , thanks for sharing .
I will add to this . Yes , it’s true we love you Dana as we loved Eric, Andy, Nicole, Ignasi, Mayra, Hugo , High saint, Melcom, Pliskin , Catribia and a couple other community managers that’s slipping my mind right now. I write these names by heart while drinking my afternoon coffee, i could search a little for the rest names but then it would be fake and not real .
You are good people truly.
When my friend lost his beloved wife it was Pliskin that was sending him private messages worrying for his condition. Andy and the rest of the team send him a pack of goodies and a lovely hand written letter for condolences and phycological support.
I cannot thank you enough and no words can express my gratitude for your kindness.
You are good people and it’s a privilege meeting you.
Pass my love to Andy if possible and tell him that he is missed.
You’re not just a messenger for us , you are our hope and a friend of course.
All of the recent updates since at least AoS came more or less at the same time, with Xbox (Console and PC) sometimes a bit delayed. If I remember correctly.
So far it looks like we will keep all but some official servers and possibly there will be no more new stuff at the bazaar.
Kind of. No more free online play, you will have to find/rent/set up an UE4-Server, no bazaar at all (Same for Microsoft store version).
edit: crap, auto correction paired with non native speaker doesn’t notice: I meant “free online play“
Thank you all for your love and support People will see me ugly cry in the office but I will blame it on Ignasi
The situation with the consoles is not ideal, and I think everyone here would have loved to have Conan Exiles Enhanced on all platforms.
The fact that this version is not being released right now on EGS, the Windows Store, and consoles does not mean that it will never be released.
I for one, still hope that Enhanced will one day be available on all the other platforms.
He’s clinging to the hope factor. Dana can only give out the corporate message as far as that goes and knowing what I know of her, I’m almost assured she has…relayed our distress and frustrations to the others at funcom. It’s up to them to see if they want to make a more definitive stance than what they put out already.
