Thanks, but no thanks Funcom

Well, I tried “Conan Exiles - Enhanced” and I’m not impressed with anything other than the reduced install size. To me it does not seem to be “enhanced” in any way, shape, or form.

New bugs, no fixes for many old bugs that should have been fixed years ago, some old bugs are even worse (climbing issues, enemy attack range issues), worse latency than usual on the official servers, a really bad UI overhaul (just give up and go back to the OLD UI from before AoS came out - it was better in every way), many other unwanted changes, and a graphics overhaul that somehow managed to make the game look worse than it used to.

I’m going to stick with a rolled back version of the game, a version from the before times, the long, long ago when the game was still fun to play.

and the pope is a catholic… suprise, surprise

@Macdallan I had exactly the same impression. But what really killed me was the horrendous image contrast and the eye-watering lighting. It really strains your eyes. It’s uncomfortable to play. Perhaps when they tweak the lighting a bit and when some interesting mods appear, I’ll give it another try.
But in any case, since the vast majority of the public is very happy with the update, I’m grateful to the company for the unexpected gift.

The vast majority does not seem to be very happy with the update. Read these forums, read the Steam forums, and you’ll see.

If this “enhanced” downgrade was a gift then I would ask for the receipt so I could return it. It’s so bad… so very bad.

Well, I didn’t read too much and skipped everything about servers play because I’m a single-play gamer. But yesterday I saw a flood of raving reviews about the graphics.

In no way imaginable, unless your PC is just complete garbage and cannot render it. But then that’s on you.

In all honesty your entire post is full of nonsense. No fixes? Bullshyte.

You are just talking out of your arse in order to complain because you WANT to complain, not be cause you have a REASON to complain. Which is pretty much your entire history of posts.

LOL. It’s not my PC. Look on these forums, read some of the complaints on the Steam forums, you’ll see plenty of complaints from people who aren’t being fooled by the “upgraded” graphics. We are seeing beyond the alleged surface level improvements and noticing the flaws, the things that are missing, the things that actually look worse if you take a moment to actually do more than just glance at them.

Nothing I saw was fixed, everything I saw was worse including the UI. I found new bugs, old bugs were worse. There are obviously many, many reasons to complain.

conan hasnt seen this much attention since its glory days

no, not true…they are not happy with the server performance…most are actually very pleased about the upgrade but you are of course citing the loud minority (YOU). And yes, I read the sources you claim here. Simply not true what you are claiming in total numbers.

And you know, I would be inclined to take anything you say serious, were it not for what you are infamous for here on the forums.

I guess people only read what they want to read or are simply fed what they want to be fed. That is how the algorythm works after all.

I disagree 100%. The server problem is quite serious, but the developer has already stated their focus and is working on it. Furthermore, it’s impossible to say that the game has gotten worse graphically. Exile and Siptah being connected for PvE is another great improvement. Shared chests, corner pillars, item stat information now displayed in the interface at crafting time, etc., etc…

The solution to your problem is obvious: take a break from the game.

My thoughts exactly. Some of the new visuals are very distracting and i just noticed there’s a bunch of the same old building issues with the pieces as before. I checked out the world with the new graphics but now what? It’s still the same old game with the same old content that keeps you interested for an hour.

90% of evertying you wrote is a lie. huge lie

rubber baning at login is gone, undocumented on the patch notes, but quite annoying nonetheless…
the perfomrance is better than it was, my server usualkly went nuts with 12 people on now it takes 17 , (and they are working on it) tthe experience is more fluid. than it was.
you are not imprressed? for once siptah and el merged in the same map., grapjhics are amazing, the ammount of work they added to it is important. it came with a large list of fixes. thes game came from being abandon, to a group of people who are visibly working on the game.

there are issues sure, but also i have not seen willingness to fix it as we see it today since years,

i have been far more critic than yourself on funcom, but this time… credit where credit is due,

best thing ever is that funcom gave the torch to inflection, and they are taking it seriously.

again there are things that needs to be worked. yes! right now they are focusing on the perfomrance side.

how aboiut you give them a chance? 3 months to see where we will be? they just launched it., we need to give time., i am one that is hopefull that inflection will work on this.

Yeah, nah. The upgrade is incredible. It looks gorgeous, the QoL stuff is very welcome, and they actually did fix a lot of the longstanding bugs. Yes, there are issues that need to be ironed out, the server issues being the most important. But the general discourse around the web is very positive. You may not be happy with it and that’s completely fine, but don’t make stuff up to back up your own feelings. In fact, beyond the server issues the primary source of negativity was console players (justifiably) upset its not coming to PS5/Xbox. But even that has died down since Funcom clarified the matter and the success this update is having all but guaranteeing a release there.

some folks cant see beyond their own nose.

turning this game to UE5 , it greatkt exoabd the game worlkd,. meaning we now have room for new dungeons new content, and why not the potential to have a new expansion or 2.

financially speaking it will be not very smnart to just go to do this large if not huge ammount of work if there was nothing planned. we were limited by ue4, now we are not.

guys seruouslly this was just releaed less than a week ago , and are you complaining about no new content? really?

to the OP, you need a better PC.

i just migrated from console to PC and got a new rig for gaming. Ryzen 9800x3d RTX 5070ti 32gb. I know play in 4k Ultra settings.

you need to adjust lighting to your preference but, under U5 the game is at another level with a good rig, so I think you need to upgrade your setup to get with the times.

I had no other choice as well and I couldn’t be happier .

the OP still has and always had fundamental issues with what the game is contrast to what he would like the game to be… he wants the game to be what it was pre Age of Sorcery. This is simply a new opportunity to say that. No new computer could ever fix that fundamental dislike of the game how it has been for the past 2 and a half years or more even.

or 3000, or more. Don’t even get me started on the very good and amazing mods, which will get adapted at some point.

But your statements lacks one conclusion. The transition was done to ease further developement for new content. FUNCOM is apparently not even the primary developer for the game anymore. That should say a lot for the future regarding content.

38k people online right now dont care apparently.

You ever get that presorcery server set up and running?

Ya, didn’t think as much.

If you don’t SEE the difference I know you are being quite disingenuous, the UE5 visials is about the first biggest thing anyone sees. So you start off already informing us you have blinded yourself to any enhancement. So everything you say from there is heavily tainted by your obsession

No not even close. What you see here is the chronic complains, you are proof enough of that. You haven’t posted here in how long? Yet here you are now the you have a new grip band wagon to join in on.

This just proves you haven’t actually played and are just parroting what you have read on the forum.

50 K people on and that is just the steam build. 50 K. The all time peak is just 52 K. The public servers were down to pretty single digits in prime to 30+ in the evenings.

Sorry but none, NONE of the actual evidence supports you delusion.

The rest of what I read is people were expecting a different game when it was only ever a face lift.

Why would people think it would be a different game?
