since devs are working on the “fatalities” as far as we know,
maybe it is a good time to ask for more of “basic” animations since there must be already a person working on animations at the moment?
There is a mod, broken now - Immersive Animations.
And it added animations to basic actions like drinking, eating, checking the chests…
It was a little mod which added just few things but it made the game look and feel so much better.
So since devs are working on animations anyway, maybe there would be some time available to add these animations from the mod? These really should be present in any modern game, and they make a difference in how the game feels.
What are these ‘fatalities’ you speak of @Bathory, I have not heard of them until yesterday and have now seen two posts in relation to them. Both myself and my buddy @CodeMage were discussing this not long ago and are curious. Could you tell us more about them?
Dennis mentioned that in the streams, fatalities are to arrive in the next Chapter I believe.
@Croms_Faithful “Fatalities” a word I believe coming from Mortal Kombat’s FATALITY.
Have you played Funcom’s Age of Conan MMO?
In there once you beat the enemy NPC there were fatalities - finishing moves/animations depicting murdering of the NPC in an entertaining way
It was one of the things, beside nice and unique combat mechanics which made AoC stand out.
My favorite AoC fatality was with the two handed sword. Slash down from the shoulder to the chest, then let go get right up in their face and laugh. It always made me giggle in real life.
I’m conflicted on this idea, simply because anything with animation tends to cause issues on consoles. While a full blown pc with uncompressed gameplay can handle it just fine, we on consoles, especially the PlayStation, are struggling. I just want an emote that keeps the damn cats from wandering. I also sub out most torches with non-animated ones. So it would be really nice if we could first get proper optimizations for current gen consoles (the ps5 still doesn’t have one and runs on the ps4 version) before considering more things that can slow down the game more.
If it helps I put mine on top of crates. I build a single wall and ceiling, put the loud bastard up there and delete the ceiling. It makes em sit there.
@Rust yeah… unfortunately, as I mentioned, it doesn’t always work. @Marylambs has tried a few options. Damn cat won’t stay still. We also got one of the new pirate cats. My base is a decently sized port village, so I just let the cat wander around right now.
Anyway, as I’ve said before, I would pay for more emotes for our thralls. I don’t much care for emotes for my own character, because I tend to be doing other stuff than standing around posing.
This is the pain of owning a console.
They are great when it comes to arcade games or other games made specifically for their hardware.
But the hardware itself can’t be upgraded.
So any kind of multi platform live service game at some point becomes a pain as the hardware may stop being able to pull the game.
I saw it in other games where devs eventually abandoned consoles. And there was a lot of tears, accusations of being left behind and abandoned.
One has to know what they are getting into when playing live service game on a console. I don’t expect Conan Exiles to receive any revolutionary expansions or overhauls tho.
We are going to get CE 2, just let them finish Dune. I know there is someone who reads all this and writes down our expectations, and it’s all going to be included in CE2.
Did you check any chests this morning?
What we need to do is compile a list of 10 things we need and want the most.
Then ask FC how much would it be in their resources to give us all that.
And then start some kickstarter to pay them to do it?
Normally I would agree, but the problem isn’t so much the issue with the console, it’s the port. The console can run other games with much more power just fine. Funcom refuses to optimize the game to accommodate the current gen consoles. It needs to leave the old gen behind and work solely on the current one. If it doesn’t, this will continue to be an issue.
I had an ophidian magi cat named Pharaoh is my tavern but it walked out the side door and was killed by a scorpion. My other magi Cat Goddess hangs out in my sorcery chamber where I feed her nothing but exquisite meat slices.
I have not seen my cat since autumn last year. Last time he was in my dining room walking the table to sneak upon that huge piece of ham from Bazaar dining set. Now I can hear him, I can see him on the map, but can’t find him inside the house.
Maybe he’s stuck in one of the boxes and can’t get out
