Weirdly enough, we cannot use Katana’s and Shortswords when mounted. Why ever not? The Samurai were incredibly powerful mounted riders even tho their primary weapon was a Bow while mounted, they were very capable of using a Katana while on horse back in combat too. Matter of fact, Katana is a rather devastating weapon when used by a skilled rider. Given its shape and how it’s made for slashing rather than anything else, the speed of the horse would only add to Katana’s slashing power. So maybe in future a Katana can be added as mounted combat weapon?
Shortswords… Surely a shortsword can be used while on horse right? I get it, it’s shorter than most of weapons but guarantee there’s a place and use for it. It’s kind of annoying that a lot of Agility weapons are not usable for mounted combat. Sure there’s bunch of other weapons you can use while on horse back but if I’m Agility build you’re making me use a Strength weapon to deal with that one pesky Hyena gnawing at my horse because a Bow cannot aim that low when aiming or I just let my thrall deal with it. They can definitely make some more progress on this aspect of the game.
Do other players even use mounted combat? If so do you feel the same way?
P.S. Mostly talking about PvE content here. I don’t follow PvP at all and I’ve no knowledge about horse combat in PvP.
