Age of War - Chapter 4: Hotfix News & More

Greetings Exiles!

Age of War - Chapter 4 is well underway, and we’ve been busy delving into your comments and thoughts from the update! We’d like to take a moment to share some info around the release, clarify some things, and give you a heads-up on what’s immediately ahead:

Amended Patch Notes

There were some additional changes to stamina regen, crafting balance, and Official Server harvest rates introduced in Chapter 4 that were not included in the patch notes on release. We’ve updated the patch notes to reflect these changes. You can find the updated notes HERE.

An Upcoming Hotfix!

We are currently preparing a hotfix with the aim of releasing later next week. - the following hot issues are among those to be addressed:

  • Return of the the custom item split window
  • A better solution for items not being able to be moved consistently within or between inventory containers
  • Right click once again consumes items
  • Selecting Items on the radial wheel will provide item information
  • Using torches and bindings while mounted
  • Additional tweaks for Fatalities
  • Bearer Thrall HP changes reverted (for now)

As soon as we have more details on the contents and release date for the hotfix, we’ll let you know. Thank you for your continued feedback!

Battle Pass

In Chapter 4, we revamped the way you earn XP and progress through your Battle Pass. Unfortunately, precise details of this revamp were not properly communicated to you, and we apologize for any confusion or panic caused in the opening days of the update.

Here’s how Battle Pass XP now works, in a bit more detail:

  • Every week, three (3) Challenges are rotated in. Challenges each always grant 2500 XP upon completion.
  • Defeating NPC foes grants XP per kill, varying between types of enemies. Harmless creatures like prey animals grant minuscule amounts of XP, while tougher foes like World Bosses grant significantly more; up to 100 XP per kill.
  • Manually crafting items in benches grants some XP. You do not gain XP from crafting “basic” items from your inventory such as twine, toches, repair hammers, and the like. You also do not gain XP from automated crafting stations such as Furnaces. Crafting Epic items grants more XP than crafting normal items.
  • Harvesting resources provides a small amount of XP. The amount remains the same regardless of what you harvest.
  • The amount of XP required to progress a level in your Battle Pass has not changed (1000 XP)

We know these are significant changes to how Battle Pass progression works, so we’re keeping a close eye on this.

Known Issues

We’re currently aware of and investigating reports of the following:

  • Dying of “Falling through the world” in certain specific locations
  • Occasionally logging in with your character partially inside foundations
  • UI Text may be difficult to read on large displays
  • Occasional performance ‘hitch’ or stutter when navigating menus
  • Followers do not engage ambushers from the Sacred Hunt
  • Server crashes in specific areas on Isle of Siptah

Regarding fatalities, could it be possible to relate them to a separate input?
It breaks the combat flow to stop your combos and probably getting staggered before you can perform them.
If it was related to a separate input (and could even be triggered mid combo) it would be much more fluently.

Also what means “for now”? :sweat_smile:

Edit: sometimes it’s not possible to interact with the ballista and the ballistas inventory disappears.

We are not entirely happy with Bearers being so tanky, but we overcorrected with the Chapter 4 update. Further changes to their HP may come in the future, but may need to coincide with a new feature for a future update.

Thank you so much for reverting the bearer thrall HP nerf. Hopefully the nerf won’t happen until thrall revives are implemented. And more detail in the patch notes is a HUGE help <3

you didn’t talk about the wizard. I just did a purge today. it didn’t spawn. did you have remove it?

And what about the 8k exp limit per day?
That hasn’t been officially communicated at all. Is it a bug?

OMG! Those updated rates are very very interesting. I’m looking forward to utilizing these and my mind is going haywire on the implications.

And the 8 k daily limit is where?

I agree that. You could have cut it in half…or maybe adjust it so they have nonadjustable armor (always light with the bearer pack) so that they are tanky but can easily be widdled down if left to their own devices. They have to be babysat.

With all the battlepass changes why not remove the progression at all just ask us to pay for every level.

Lets go John Riccitiello style 1$ per Unlock.

After all the goal is to make it more grindy, not fun and force us to jump through more hoops and end goal is to make us either fail to complete when we pay for it thus earning you extra $$$ or pay for Unlocks due to fomo…

Lets skip the slow boiling and just do 1$ unlock sorta skip the foreplay.

EDIT: I love how fast you tweak battlepass to make it more grindy, increasing daily cap reset, reducing daily XP cap but fixing bugs like falling through floor isn’t on your priority list.

you mentioned the siptah issues but I still can’t log in. Can you put a freeze on decay. End of next week is gonna be too late!

Wait you are saying doing challenges like collecting 10 black lotus isn’t grindy but getting BP XP in almost all aspects of game play is? Cut the crap, you don’t like the XP daily ceiling. That isn’t adding grind. That’s literally regulating the amount of grind you can do to avoid you from grinding the entire BP in 1 day.

I don’t understand.

  1. You were happy enough to release Bearers with this nerf to their health with the Chapter 4 release to the Public Beta Client. Didn’t you all test the change before releasing to the Public Beta Client?

  2. Players tested and reported the issue before the release became official, but no changes were made to Bearers. So weren’t you all happy with the Bearers in the Beta version?

  3. Only now that the Chapter 4 has been released and many, many more players have reported the issue (again)… only now you all are not happy?

  • Why has happiness dropped only now and not earlier in the “testing” process?
  • How was this change to Bearers not vetted and caught sooner?
  • And most importantly, how can this drop in happiness be avoided in the future?

Seems alright, but at least let the large crystal formations still be harvestable by picks. It’s ridiculous that I can whack a giant crystal and watch it light up without harvesting anything.
