Last chapter, many players gave the Company a really harsh review (as usually occurs every chapter), and it seems the dev team has responded by making certain things slightly different. Many have complained that the game is just too easy, so the devs have filled the gap and become the most difficult challenge to survive in the world of Conan.
I have spent time in official pve and pvp, slightly modded, and heavily modded servers to test out this new chapter. Here is what I have found. If you want to maintain your thralls, not lose items from drop-all-on-death, or various other negatives, continue reading. Also comment below with your own tips and tricks to survive the devs this chapter.
Intro: Back in the day, you bought the game and it mostly worked kinda. I hope you didnât assume it would be left in working order. Obviously, one key feature of the next gen gaming industry is to sell you a product and then consecutively and intentionally break it and/or convert it into something that you never would have purchased.
- you will probably fall through the floors. Ceilings, foundations, even wheel of pain. In working theory, all built items are now secret traps that will get you and your thralls stuck under and/or inside of. If there happens to be water underneath, you drown. If you have drop-on-death settings, you wonât get your stuff back without considerable effort. Stay off of builds to keep your inventory and your life.
- Thralls are now the number one target for assassination by development. Your thralls are not only weaker now, but they also will not agro on the new werewolf that attacks you in the back at night. They will stand there and be killed without resistance. This will occur in your own house, outside your house, in your neighborâs house, and can be used by your enemies to grief your thralls to death without any cost to themselves. If you want to keep your thralls, stay away from where the thralls are at night, and in pvp/conflict keep watch over them as they huddle in a stronghouse because your player enemies can bring the werewolf to them.
- New UI is tiny font, important numbers/info in abnormal new locations, and incredibly non-intuitive. Plan to spend extra time looking all over the screen for that one piece of info that used to be right up in your face.
- Inventory: always check your dropped items. If you have anything other than /no sorting/ selected in inventory, you will drop everything except what you want to drop. Be especially aware while using dismantle bench (click play button to stop it before adding items).
- The new purge is designed to grief the &^ out of you by destroying your buildings and mass murdering your max level, re-specâd, 2k+ armor, T4 rare thralls. If you like losing weeks worth of effort and grind in about 5 minutes of game play, go ahead and do tier 9 and 10 purge in a normal manner. Otherwise, I suggest placing the coffer out in an open field and solo it with golems that you donât really have to work to make.
- It is widely known and recognized that foundations and golems cause server crashes, so why not add even more of them? 'nuf said.
There are many more things that can aggravate the living daylights out of the average player, but these are what I found the most impacting.
Development has decided that even though this is a PC game and most players have lives happening even though they are playing, that the game should be more tailored to console gamers that do not have anything happening in their lives and can therefore pay 100% attention to everything in the game at all times. If this is not descriptive of yourself, be prepared to be annoyed and murdered and robbed of weeks of grind at a time regularly by stupid errors in coding, intentional griefing in coding, and just bad coding in general. Remember, the dev team hates you and wants to kill your thralls. The game play itself is no longer the challenge, but surviving the devs is. Keep this in mind and you can still have fun, Exile! After all, we are truly the exiled outcasts, property of the dev team, and subject to whatever discrimination and grief they wish to purge us with.
As I said above, last chapter the forums was filled with hate toward the devs, and they responded with this chapter. Letâs decide if we want worse Conan next update, or better Conan by determining whether we say nice things or fill forums with negativity again. Maybe if we congratulate them and pat their insolent and abnormally ignorant backs, they will make nice things next chapter. Maybe, if we are mean to them and hurt their sensitivities again, they will find more ways to strain our eyes, elevate our blood pressure, and take more from us with even more stupid glitches, intentional grief-coding, and bad design. Remember, we should be using a controller because the dev in charge thinks itâs 1989 and heâs playing Frogger on the Atari. If you have the audacity to play a PC game with PC hardware then itâs your own fault things donât work right. ETC. ETC.
In conclusion, this chapter has been the most rewarding and excellent gaming experience in history! I really enjoyed the total slaughter of all my thralls, losing my entire battle kit by death to floors, and leaving my stuff in enemy bases because their wheel of pain ate me. I also enjoy getting stabbed in the back by the werewolf boss when my sound is down or off, and also when my thralls and friendâs thralls die to them when we donât know they are there because why should they be there inside a base, in a house, while we are going through inventories trying to figure out how to drop something? All in all it has been a wonderful experience that has reminded me that gaming is the most fun when your favorite developers are in command of everything you have. Thank you Dennis for the intense effort you have invested into this and for making Conan the most rewarding game experience that could have been imagined. I absolutely love all the new things and stuffs! Please keep up the great work and I hope you continue to improve all the things that even the players didnât realize needed improvement! The care and attention you have put into the player base just gives warm heart feelings and we all love everything you do (heart shape emoji) (happy face emoji).
And, finally, a big reminder to all the players that are having a hard time finding the positives in this. YOU ARE AN EXILE, (yes you purchased the product and they keep breaking it on purpose but) YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO EXPECT GOOD THINGS. If you canât enjoy what is provided by your masters, slave, then perhaps you will be more fitted for service in the aviary pits (queue aviary monologue here). You have one goal as an exile, and that is to die unremembered and unloved, stripped of everything you value. This is the way.
Hope everyone keeps their blood pressure down and try not to have conniption fits. WE all know the monologue that wants to play on repeat in your head. positive thoughts, happy place, zenâŠ
