Game mode: [ Single-player ] Type of issue: [ Bug ] Server type: [N/A - SP] Region: [N/A - SP]
The start/stop buttons do not show on animal pens in my game. All mods were removed to determine whether this was mod-related. The problem remains. Did something change with the base game? Anyone else having this problem?
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Place an animal pen.
Add a tamable creature.
Add appropriate food for the creature.
Try to start the taming process - no buttons available to start the process. The taming process does NOT start automatically.
I don’t want to get too far off the subject, but there are several things that should be controlled by the catch-up timer and are not. The stable is iffy, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Self healing of pets/thralls was completely bugged the last time I checked and if a cell is not occupied the healing stops and leaving/returning is not subject to the catch-up timer.
The catch-up timer should apply here, calculating the time difference between occupied - cell/empty cell/occupied-cell and apply the appropriate catch-up healing or crafting.
As to the use of pens/stables my process is always: baby into the appropriate slot by shift-clicking then adding 1 piece of food. When the single piece of food poofs, crafting has started and will continue. If the food does not disappear, start troubleshooting. In one extreme case, the pen had to be replaced.
Before we go into wild theories, could you please let us know which baby are you trying to raise and what food are you using? A screenshot would be helpful as well.
Multiple (over 10 varieties of animals), some spawned as admin, some not spawned (collected the old fashioned way - in case there was a problem with admin-spawned animals).
I have only tried max stacks of food, so I will try a single piece per your suggestion. However, all other aspects of your suggestion have already been followed, including replacing the pen. I have not tried the stable, but I will check to see if that is working.
Good idea. Didn’t think of that. I will try this. However, there is nothing in the queue when I add the animal and then add the appropriate food. Nonetheless, I will try moving out of the area and coming back.
This is the second mention of the catch-up mechanic in this game with regard to this issue. Starting to see what you and @Jim1 are referring to. I will check on this, as well.
I tried removing the creature and replacing it several times, with and without food (adding food subsequently). Nothing showed up in the taming queue.
Yes. A friend and I spent a full day on this yesterday. We have similar mods installed, but all mods were removed to test the pens. We are both having the same issue. Nothing appears in the taming queue. We are both able to remove “cubs/babies/etc.” and receive no message when doing so.
Also, removing mods from an existing save can sometimes have unusual effects. Can you try backing up your save, starting a new game and testing in admin mode to see if it works normally then? By default, you can find the Steam save folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved
Larathiel,
I was using the foods appropriate for each animal type, as noted on the wiki page.
Originally, I backed-up game.db in the ConanSandbox\Saved folder, removed mods one by one and ran the game each time to determine which mod might be causing the problem. All mods were eventually removed, and the problem persisted.
So, I copied my game.db over to the TestLive client, and ran the game using TestLive. The problem is gone. Conclusion - there is some junk (probably from a mod) in my Saved folder causing this issue. I am going to backup my game.db. file and reinstall the game from scratch, testing the animal pens with every mod I install.
Thank you to all who provided feedback and suggestions. You were a great help. Please close this thread, because this does not appear to be an issue with the base game.
