Anyone else having issues trying to get the purge camp to find a location?

I’ve been doing purges at my base fine for a while. But all of a sudden it’s unable to find a place to build. Like this is so frustrating.

If it worked fine before, and you made no changes to your design since then, it is probably due to server performance.

The purge needs to generate navmesh around your base so the camp knows where it can build, but generating navmesh is a bit resource demanding and navmesh is constantly being generated around players across the server. So the more players online, the more navmesh is being generated, the more performance drops.

You can try to generate the navmesh yourself by running around outside your base where camps could appear right before you proclaim wealth.

Tuesday’s update is supposed to make camps appear more reliably by increasing the number of possible location checks from 504 to 1600, but that probably won’t solve all of its issues.

After wasting so much time trying to set up umpteen Purge accessible bases I gave up trying.
I have found that:
The Purge does not spawn in the same location each time. You can be in a wide open space on three sides. If the Purge decides to try to spawn in the fourth side (ie not accessible) then the Purge will fail. It will not look for an alternative location.

Will this be fixed on the 19th. I don’t see any reference to this in the DevKit notes.

@LZB_Gattsu we pulled off multiple purges on my private server yesterday. However something as simple as a bedroll in the wrong place can block a purges

What you say it’s absolutely true. Some time ago i started a session on my single player, where there can be no server issues or other players interaction. I was even twitching it…

… Out of sadden, with absolutely no excuse my purge base stopped being able to accept purges when all the days before i had purge on call.

It’s a frustrating bug indeed!

No changes basically, i even reduced the amount of size my purge area took up hoping to to have more accessible area around my base for a purge but nope. It will either spawn for 2 minutes and give up or just simply. I tried shortening the route also, but it didn’t spawn.

Red line is basically the route the purge took without ANY Problems. the blue line is the route i tried to make for it to cut out everything, and it still didn’t wanna go to the coffer. The Green Crosses are examples where the camp likes to spawn, and Red are the routes

Surely it can’t be this bedroll?

Some things that apparently helped with similar problems in my game:

  • Rebuild the treasure coffer. Even in the same place, that seems to have fixed some pathing issues sometimes.
  • Dont’t put the treasure coffer straight to a wall. With a little more open space around it, the game seems to have an easier time to path to it.
  • Thralls can maybe block the way, too. Move thralls a little bit away from the coffer, and have a clear line to walk through them. As thralls don’t always return to the spot where you put them, this may produce changes in your setup without you changing anything.
  • Remove trees and huge stones from the area where the purge base can/should spawn. The harvesting spell (cull resources) works great for that purpose.
  • Just try again. Sometimes, it works, sometimes, it doesn’t.

it starts up like normal, but after 40 seconds i gives up and says there isn’t a route. Nothing has changed around my base, Coffer room looks like this. Ample room

It’s simply time to change your purge spot unfortunately and hope that the new spot will work. The game breaks in so many ways that it becomes heartbreaking unfortunately in many cases.

Surely you can place the bedroll out of treasury area and check it also :laughing:.

The reason @sestus2009 mention it was because in “hell pit” bedrolls were creating collision. Before the bedroll incident and after decades of purges worked without any issues. Actually it’s one of the less purge base designs i made that works properly no matter the level for almost a year.

I beloeve the next update addresses this. Whether it fixes it will TBD afyer it is relased.
