I’m using strength bows on my named Accursed Fighters and Berserkers on Siptah.
I was amazed at the level of chance of increasing strength - 95% From the first time, I saw this only once in three years of gaming, and then on Darfari, it seems.
PS Katerina is an exemplary pirate)) You can also find her on Siptah.
Just to note, the raw stat is only a portion of the damage.
Each faction/thrall also has a hidden damage multiplier for ranged and melee attacks.
For example, the Darfari Cannibal Burte currently has a ranged Modifier of 2.88
Sarnai Thorn and the other Pirates only have a 1.44
Many “Fighters” have a higher ranged hidden modifier than they do melee.
It’s all an unholy mess.
Yes, but if I’m not mistaken, they are not on Siptah.
And Yoggits have relatively small multipliers.
That was meant as a sample of how the hidden multipliers are a major issue and nonsensical.
This one will dredge a few pertinent ones.
Dalinsinia Accursed has. 2.0 ranged multiple
Lookout Cassia from the Black Corsairs: 1.2
Hap’Zebah from Stygian: 1.4
Christian the Blade: 1.4
Amurath the Swift, exile: 1.9
The problem with hidden multipliers is that they are hidden. The playing public must be aware of them in order to plan their actions correctly.
As for Dalinsia, berserkers and other powerful warriors, I don’t know anyone who uses them as archers. This is silly. There will never be too many of these warriors to be able to use them as archers.
And it makes no sense to use pirates in any other way than as archers. With a 60% agility bonus, these are the best archers.
Two small wibbles.
As derpy as melee thralls are, archer thralls are infinitely worse. The scripting for how thralls fight with a bow or any ranged weapon is just not good at all.
Second wibble, there are a few legendary weapons that flip the script.
Strength based bows, due to archery deliberately sucking, aren’t that exciting.
The Agility based Greatswords, on the other hand, can bring agility focused thralls to near parity with Strength based ones.
While these are harder to get in Siptah, in the Exiled Lands they are for sale at Mek’s Place.
While this one generally finds thrall combat prowess a little laughable, the melee option for Agility thralls makes them no worse than Strength thralls in several cases.
And yes, this one knows the Katana and Shortswords are melee agility weapons.
This one has also watched the NPCs generally be very confused by these weapons and use them about as well as they do Javelins.
After much experimentation, I learned how to properly use archers, even not very strong ones, to defend the base from purges.
I set up a platform for protection and built external porticoes with columns and several sections of ceilings on each. Height - one column, maximum two. And I placed archers on them, the more the better (optimally 2-3 in each direction where the purge comes from). When viewed from above, the archers should be positioned slightly closer to the attackers than the fighter defenders positioned below.
During the attack, the enemy archers were distracted by my archers and did not fire at my fighters. At the same time, the enemy fighters who were fired at by my archers ran towards them and got stuck near the columns with their faces raised up. In this state, they were easy prey for my fighters, who killed them in 2-3 hits.
As a result, 4-6 archers and 3-4 strong warriors withstood any purge of any level, up to two hundred NPCs in total. I could only watch this epic spectacle from the sidelines.
I haven’t actually used Anja the Dervish as an archer yet haha she’s level 20, but has only ever used a mace!
Her strength is in the 40s, so she now has a strength bow in hand, but she’s just chilling inside my base as I’m a little worried about my first purge in this new chapter; only using easily replaceable thralls for those first few attempts!
Her health is also around 6500hp, so she’s super tough! She starts with all the same stats as a Berserker (30 Vit, 15 Str, etc), but gets much higher health overall. She has Vitality in the 50s, Strength in the 40s, but quite low Grit and very low Agility! Still, she is an absolute beast!
Can you please put a master upgrade in a Derketos voice, give her 100 star metal arrows and take her on the jungle to kill alone the spider. To be sure that she aint going to use the arrows order her to attack nothing until you reach the spider boss and then simply order her to attack just the spider, she will focus to this boss until the fight ends. You can kill all the rest to protect her from the rest and if you she that she is blocked from trees or stones you can order her to come to a more open space. She will do as directed and still continue fighting the spider.
I am pretty confident that she will use less than 40 arrows to kill the spider.
Thank you anyway @Coyote0903, take your time and do it only if you wish!
Ps. Zero authority points please.
When they guard they don’t have authority helping them.
I use Dalinsa, the other named accursed fighters, and berserkers as archers. I give them a strength bow and it works great!
Yeah. It’s weird how NPCs in the wild have laser-guided arrows, but once you bonk them on the head and give them some porridge to eat, they’ll have trouble hitting the broad side of a barn from the inside.
Honestly, it’s the most disturbingly accurate part of the game.
Concussed and tortured slaves may have nerve damage that is most apparent when they attempt activities that require visual acuity, hand eye coordination, and the spatial awareness necessary to lead a target.
It’s such an incredibly bizarre niche to be so specifically life like in.
