Arrows and Item changes in AoW

Hey there, just a few notes I think could be patched up here

The arrow damage / ArP values were modified in AoW and they don’t really make sense.

Hardened steel arrows do 17/17, but upgrading them to black ice lowers them to 15/14 down from 21/19
Obsidian Arrows are also significantly worse than they used to be, at 16/16 down from 20/20.

Both of these items require you to either craft or process materials at a public / communal location, and as such have a higher risk/reward equation to consider.

In addition, most of the legendary items have either not changed at all, or were still not improved enough to be better than crafted items of similar tiers - meaning the fact that they can’t be repaired now actually makes them less likely to be sought out, rather than the intended effect of adding value to them.

Combining that with the removal of Fragments of Power from many crafting recipes, and there’s very little reason for a player to return to places like the Unnamed City once they’ve seen the content.

Naturally, as a dedicated CE player, I believe I have all the solutions to these issues, and that everyone else is wrong and crazy. If you pay me in a hug and a high five, as well as enough Crom Coins to afford a lifetime of battlepasses, I’ll fix them for you.

The arrows brought me here, but the love will keep me. A lot of people here look like they need hugs, I’m here for it.

Here’s what might be happening:
Black ice arrows are supposed to have the coldsnap effect, but it’s not working
Obsidian arrows are supposed to have a single non-stacking bleed, but it’s not working
Dragonbone arrows are supposed to sunder but it’s not working

If the above changes happened then the damage values would be totally acceptable and hardened steel/star metal would just be top damage with no special effects.

The above effects do apply to the non projectile weapons, but I haven’t tested the javelin enough (they are labeled with the effects) to see if that works.

Glad to have you. Have not played much since update and going out of town today for a few days bringing both our PS5 s would be a bit much. Looking forward to exploring some of the new weapons. Ps there is alot of people here that need :people_hugging: Hugs due to their loss from update

In general, Black Ice weapons are now inferior to the Hardened Steel weapons they are made from.
It’s very unfortunate.
Even if Coldsnap was working, as this one understands it, it wouldn’t mitigate that the gear is a lot of work for a downgrade.

This one does not comprehend what non-euclidean reasoning causes those in authority to think that these very paltry debuffs are worth the effort, much less the loss of stats in the case of Black Ice.

If black ice caused Coldsnap, it should still have damage values at least equal to the hardened steel it came from.

Coldsnap is not a powerful debuff, so there is no reason one would put in the extra work to get objectively worse items.

Also, treasures don’t seem to stay on top of ceilings, they’ve decided teleport to the ground beneath them after daily resets.

I am having an issue where my arrows are showing 20dmg in the pre-craft tooltip, I add my bowmaker thrall and now they show 25dmg tooltip, but when I craft them, they come out at 20dmg… same applies for the fletcher… do carpenter thralls not work in AOW or are the tooltips just jacked?

Arrows or bows?
Bows made by a bowmaker will have increased damage from the default the tooltip shows.

Arrows are showing an increase in damage on he tooltip when a bowmaker is placed in the table, they also show an increase in penetration when a fletcher is placed, but it doesnt actually craft with those stats.

Fun thing is: Archer Thralls sucked already, even more so now that RHTS have been nerfed to pirate level and bows and arrows have had their damage reduced.

But yeah, I see your point. It doesn’t make sense.
Actually, nothing they did in this AoW makes sense. They should really stop touching things they clearly do not understand.

But hey, now we have cannibal brutes with 2.8 ranged multiplier :man_facepalming:
