I don’t own the Atlantean Sword + Royal Armor set, nor do I have the desire to own it. If this disqualifies my opinion on the subject, I understand.
I do however, think that it’s been exclusive for long enough, and offering it as part of a second (limited time) ‘Twitch Drops’ campaign in the future will greatly benefit Funcom. This would be a way of keeping it fairly rare while simultaneously increasing Funcom’s player base at no (or virtually no) cost to them.
I do not however, think that selling it as a stand alone DLC is a good idea. Perhaps including it as part of a greater DLC pack, would work well. Something like ‘Crom the Forgotten’ which would also include a number of placeables as @Croms_Faithful has been requesting for a long time.
Certainly not at this price:
The entire game including the Siptah expansion can be purchased for less. If it were a reasonably priced (and complete) DLC pack, in the range of $7-$12, Funcom would make bank on it. However, it would not increase their player base, which in the long run would make a lot more. Let’s not forget, the larger the player base, the more likely a sequel is.
It most certainly does not disqualify you DaVice. We live in a free society and you are permitted to have and express your point of view.
I agree. And I know that others may not, and thats cool, they are entitled to their opinions. But I can rattle off literally half a dozen games from my own library right now, where the pre-order bonuses became available to everyone either days after the games release, or in a later complete/GOTY edition.
I am not looking to get into debates with other members on this subject, as I have already discussed the issue ad nauseum, but I thoroughly dislike the Twitch drops model. Long story cut short, myself and other members do not have the means and resources to access them. I would actually prefer them be sold as a DLC given a a choice between the two.
I think that this is more desperation or frustration myself. Unless I am getting her mixed up with another member, I think that like myself, poor Dovah has OCD. And this lack of a means to complete her collection is probably driving her crazy. But this feeds into another point which I am about to make…
While I am not 100% certain which placeables you are referring to here as I have suggested numerous ones over time, I am guessing you mean additional Crom artifacts/goodies here? And I know that in this regard I am, in the same boat as Dovah and Refrin when it comes to Crom features. Put it this way, Im not a rich man but I would easily cough up $100, heck maybe even $200 for a DLC pack giving Croms religion some more in-game features. I guess when we have no recourse available the only option we have is to try and barter our way out of the undesirable situation.
EDIT- just for the record for the record DaVice, that ‘Crom the Forgotten’ pack idea sounds great. I know that many people are luke warm about the idea of making Crom features a DLC. But doing it this way gives players agency, and leave the decision about whether or not we want, or accept the idea of having such features as part of our own gaming experience up to the individual. If you do want them download it, if you dont want them then dont. It wouldnt even impact on their playing experience. It would be even better if we could get Conan’s Fathers Sword in it too, although that is probably not going to happen.
Was just making note that you (and others) have requested Crom inspired placeables in the past. Figured these two pieces would work well within that style DLC pack.
I hope this armor and other legacy items appear for purchase on the Bazaar. 8 years later i’m sure those early adopters could care less they have other things going on in their lives. The merit of an early access perk is just a perk.
Talking about Funcom during Dune Awakening Q&A at launch they stated:
→ “There will not be a PvE version of the Deep Desert. PvP is a core part of that space.”
→ The Deep Desert is designed as a chaotic PvP free-for-all. This is intentional, not a placeholder.
→ PvE players are told 90% of the game is for them, but DD is intentionally hostile.
→ If you don’t want to go into the DD, you can participate in Landsraad, trade, and future PvE content.
→ More PvE maps and PvE-focused endgame content are coming — but not in the DD.
They backtracked on everything they said. I love Conan is my fav game. I would love the opportunity to purchase legacy Battle Pass items at a premium and would gobble the Conan armor set up too. Ebay still sells Day 1 editions of Xbox 1 and Playstation but the same opportunity cannot be said for Steam player finding ways to purchase a redemption code.
When I got my day 1 copy of the game for the sword I think it was, I had to buy a german version of the game because it wasnt available for whatever reason in Canada.
Exclusive means exclusive. Ive quit Conan for now, but Id be even more pissed at Funcom if they make this available again. It means they only care about money, and not the players
92,000 people according to Steamdb pre-purchased Dune Awakening when all the youtubers and streamers were hyping it up to be grand scale PVP Guild vs Guild. Get ahead of the curve.
Now how do you think I feel purchasing a game even in 2024 Gamescom Joel the director hyped up what end game was. Then to them quickly turning it into Farmville PVE solo experience.
Regardless. We’re talking an 8 year old cosmetic that nobody gonna care about anyway. I bought lots of cosmetics on Warcraft that I could care less about in my life. Resurfacing this as a bazaar item since they started to add ones isn’t the end of the world. It’s not just these again not just these but the legacy Battle Pass items that are no longer obtainable could equally be filtered back into the game.
”Care about the players” come on now. Looking back 8 years ago, Assassin’s Creed Origins was released. Put them into the same example. People could give 2 **** about if their account contains a cosmetic or not they are over that game and will never be playing it again anyway.
@Nemisis I don’t care how you feel. Do you care I was hyped and sold a PVP game Dune Awakening to be quickly have it stripped away within a month of launch ?
There’s rarely even a youtuber that even covers this game anymore because it’s so old. An 8 year old game to offer a reskin of a halloween costume that has no bearing on your IRL. That is really stingy. I can’t remember a single game I prepurchased from ages ago that I even give a F about these days. Pets and garbage eStore items in Warcraft a stupid mount nobody cares about them these days. Nope. Can’t recall a single game. Back on Xbox 360 days I bought Red Dead Redemption and it came with a poster. That would be nutty to be clinging on to how important it is to say I have a poster that nobody else can have. Well i dont have that anymore I gave all those to the library long ago so others could enjoy it. It’s equally nutty considering everything these days is digital media it’s all disposable and means nothing in the end. TV shows, movies. If someone saw you have a real newspaper on your floor they go Nemisis why you still have this old F newspaper littering up your floor like this and Nemisis goes “Because I love it, It’s my newspaper and you can’t read it”.
People like me still being cashcows for Funcom. I only played this year and have purchased everything I can. I want to buy more. And if they sell it to me I gamble you won’t lose an ounce of sleep over it.
Your aruguement is falicy. They ruined my game my $100 I paid for Dune I hate that game what it became of Conan is what I play and still havent beaten it nor got to Siptah yet. That conan armor will be ours you can share.
You must be new to Funcom, promising one thing and delivering another is not new. I went through the same thing, fell in love with Conan when it came out, but learned over the years Funcom didnt deliver as expected. Thats why when Dune was first announced, I knew how it would turn out, as did many others.
The case about old items, yeah they certainly can do what they want, if they want to resell them they can. Like I said above, it will cement the case that Funcom only cares about money and nothing else.
But no amount of reasoning will make me change my mind on exclusive items. You earn those by being at a certain place at a certain time.
Dear Funcom. Please ignore Nemisis he is not your customer anymore. Active players of Conan Exiles and active consumers of your Bazaar items we would appreciate this to be evaluated. A lot of Conan Exiles players didn’t even live through the Covid years and probably a lot will pass away in the next 10 years so consider this a Make-A-Wish Foundation please for active consumers not Nemesis he said himself he doesn’t care about you like we do.
But what about the items that are similar to the exclusive ones.
The Arcane Bookshelf vs the Arcane Curio Cabinet for example?
While this one respects that the Atlantean Sword and Royal Armor, that ship has sailed…
What are your views on the similar but altered versions?
Would a Royal Sword and Atlantean Armor set trigger the same issue, or is the exclusivity protected with a name change and some detail modifications?
This one use the Arcane Bookshelf and Arcane Curio Cabinet as an example because it is the most 1 for 1 while still looking distinct and is an example of their offerings after BP items are time limited but other items may be “similar” mandate went thru.
If its a different skin, or whatever, to me its a different item, and I dont mind things like that. A particular item that you had to do something special, or be somewhere etc to earn, should be reserved to those that were able to do it.
Otherwise, Ill just toss $500 and demand all unlockable content instantly.
This one just found it amusing that what should be an absurd amount of money to spend on cosmetics in a game supported as well as this one is actually a tiny sliver of what is available.
