Audio bug when joining server

Im having an Audio issue when joining a server. I have tried multiple fixes and nothing has worked. The run up to the issue is very simple.

  1. Start game - still have audio
  2. search for server - still have audio
  3. Joining server - still have audio
  4. Loaded in and see character - No audio

All audio settings are up on game, pc, discord, etc.
Every option for audio is set to my headphones.
Audio from discord and Chrome still work, just not Conan when in a server.
Audio bar in sound settings is showing sound 100/100 when i have Conan on saying that there is a loud contuines sound and when i disabled Conan the the sound bar drops 0/100 as if there is no audio anymore.
I have resetted my audio devices to default in case Conan is sending it to anywhere else.
I have tired playing the sound through my speakers and still no audio.
This issue has happen now for 3 days in a Row.
I have looked up this issue and so far have not found a solution.
Please if anyone has some insight, please share.

I know you said server but just to clarify, is it a singleplayer, co-op or multiplayer server? If multiplayer, is it private that you own (rented or dedicated) or joined, or an Official?

If private, does it have mods?

It is multiplayer, official, and non-modded to my knowledge. Offical #1501

Someone said its sounds similar to the Dreg audio bug where when you go by the dungeon it causes you to lose audio until you beat the dungeon. Tried that and it caused the audio to make a pop sound at the end but did not bring it back. I dont know if that helps.

Ok, is your game from Steam, Epic or MS?

Steam

Update, still no audio. Ive been just playing without it for the time being.

Only other detail i can bring up is the audio is there for a second or two and then i hear what sounds like an audio pop 2 times and then it dies out.

SOLUTION!!! I opened it though Nvidia and it worked.

Have you actually tried other games, are those working fine?

Also try closing discord completely before joining the game to see if that makes a difference.

Another thing you could check is if you go to a completely different area on the map far from where your house is… and completely close the game and restart, check if it still happens. Otherwise it might depend on the location (you can get your exact coordinates with alt+shift+L, if it turns out to be location related, then be sure to post the coordinates here)

Helldivers, Monster Hunter and Abiotic factor all are fine. Its just Conan. And i havent gone to far from Noob river. Like only 5 squares away from my base. But it seems like opening it through Nvidia makes it work.

Yea, in that case it’s something specific to your pc  At least you found a workaround.

Yeah the work around is good. but i still hope the devs figure out a solution. I see others have had a similar issue and since the problem doesnt persist on any other games or applications, i assume its something with the game.

I really don’t think this is something that the devs need to figure out. It’s most likely related to your computer and the combination of software you have installed on it and their configuration.

Personally I have never seen anyone report this before, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been, but it’s certainly not something that the majority ever experienced. So I would look more closely at the things you have installed on your computer and their settings, perhaps find common software being used between people that have the same issue.

Sir, im literally looking below at the suggestive post and see 3 different topics on “No audio in the game.” that range from 2020 - 2023 and when i asked people in the server they pointed that there is a current bug where audio just stops working when people go to the dreg. There is an issue in the game with audio. Besides Discord running in the background i really dont have many other applications and such running. To be very honest, none of you guys have given any actual help and the whole time have just been blaming it on my PC which has not had issues with any other game nor have i ever had an issue like this. So i will still stand on its a game issue. Thank you for nothing, i suggest not responding if you are just gonna be snarky and not helpful at all. :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

That has the diagnostic equivalent of googling “fever” and then telling your doctor “See? I told you I have smallpox”..

Yes there is.. do you want to know what it is?.. I do, because I already looked into it and fixed it on my server..
Funcom forgot to undo their testing setup… They added an area in the Dregs that is supposed to (at some point in the future) modify your audio properties while you’re inside.. and to test the area they temporarily made it mute your sound.. (even the beep sound you hear is intentional and not some “glitch”)

It’s not your sound “bugging out” it’s literally muting your game master volume on purpose while you’re in the area, as soon as you leave, the sound comes back.

TLDR: unless you are in the Dregs, reports of that issue have nothing to do with your situation and don’t somehow validate your hypothesis

Past bugs from 2020 that have since been fixed OR incorrectly reported by people having driver issues on their computers equally don’t have much value.

Have you actually tried completely shutting down Discord?
Discord actually messes with your audio devices in several ways and also has features of muting all background sound when people speak in channels etc. as well as swapping your devices.

That IS actual help - and FYI that is the only thing that would actually help you.. I’m almost certain this is something on your end, your refusal to admit that and figure out what is what’s prolonging your issue :man_shrugging: Now obviously it’s not easy for anyone to magically guess WHAT the issue is on your PC, it could be something as simple as your Windows mixer set to redirect sound from that game to another device (that you’re not actually listening to)

I can almost guarantee that this is something on your PC, you already proved that.. do you actually think the game cares about whether you launch it through nvidia or not?.. it’s the same game.. if the game had a bug, it wouldn’t magically work when you launch it from a different program.
So the issue is definitely on your end, most likely different audio devices being forced by something.. I just can’t tell you exactly what since I can’t see your PC… and you seem to be completely reluctant to try any form of troubleshooting steps, so don’t blame others for your incorrect attitude towards troubleshooting… people on the internet aren’t magically able to fix your PC unless you actually help yourself..

I suggest not making posts on the internet about your computer issues if you already made up your mind that this is not a computer issue :man_shrugging:

Here, let’s do this if it somehow makes you feel better, I would’ve helped you troubleshoot and diagnose the issue, but this is much simpler:
You’re right, it’s probably a game bug, so now you can move along and be happy and not fix it
Issue resolved  - that’s what you wanted, is it not?. And now we can both stop posting about it.

Update: Thank you for all your help fan boy.The discord option DID. NOT. WORK. All my drivers ARE UP TO DATE. The games Audio works when i start the game up UNTIL I GET INTO THE SERVER. I did join a different server and THE AUDIO WORKED. :open_mouth: So it is a issue with the server A.K.A. THE GAME! If the game is muting my audio like you said the game is suppose to/was, but never turns it back on, wouldnt that mean ITS THE GAME??? Because if it was an issue with my PC, WOULD IT NOT ACT UP IN A DIFFERENT SERVER??? Dont quit your day job you snarky dick head  Im dropping the game because this whole situation has just sucked.

And just for the record, reading your messages also shows you never even read my first post that points out that i did check all my audio options. I did make sure no sound suppression was on, and that my audio was going to my headphones.I removed any other audio device. I closed down other applications to reduce possiblites of interference.

If that was the case, starting it through your nvidia app would have no effect. So.. was that false information?
I also asked you to try going further from that location to see if the sound comes back - which you never reported back on, because you found your “nvidia app solution”

Well no… See the thig is, the very reason I asked the above questions was to eliminate the game. Your response about the nvidia app eliminated it. So which is it then? Does the nvidia app fix it for that server or does it not?

It would! If that was the case of course, but it’s not.. That issue is very localized to that one dungeon.. unless you live in that dungeon and never move out, it would have no effect on you.

It also would? See how that works when you supply conflicting information because you can’t be bothered to actually check things?

I didn’t plan on it  Though you on the other hand might want to avoid videogame forums, because if you throw this kind of a tantrum in every thread, the prolonged high bloodpressure might cause health issues down the line.

That’s probably the smart choice here!

Good luck in your future ventures
