Hello. I have a problem, perhaps more than one. I’ve been playing the game for a while now and since my son loves another similar game, I decided to buy him Conan. However, first we tried to launch the game from my Steam account on his laptop just to check if it will have good enough performance, because it have integrated graphic. The game worked, my son managed to join the official server. Next, I bought another global key for him, and he activated it on the laptop. We did not download the game again; it showed up in the library on its own. But now, from his Steam account, he was unable to join any server, receiving the message Authentication Error. I looked around the Internet and people wrote that the wait for support can be very long. People also wrote that the problem may be related to BattlEye. I decided to reinstall it. But it didn’t work by running the uninstaller. Then I looked up how to do it manually. The son stopped the service, deleted it, then deleted the program files from AppData, Common Files and directly from a subfolder in the game directory. After this, the game under BattlEye stopped launching at all. The menu does not respond to commands regarding launch or BattlEye itself. But the game works if you disable launching from BattlEye. However, only in single player mode, because the authentication error still persists on unofficial servers too. Any ideas on how to fix these problems? We bought 2nd game key just yesterday.
The way you describe it, sounds like you are trying to use it under family share. That doesn’t work for Conan.
You need a full independent install
I don’t know what is family share. The game files remained on the laptop because we had already downloaded the game onto it to run for testing. When my son switched to his account, Steam apparently determined that this game had already been downloaded and was in the library. In general, this was part of the plan, because his Internet is not very fast and downloading 100 gigabytes takes about 10 hours. We haven’t tried reinstalling the entire game yet (because it would take a long time). But we didn’tt use family share for sure.
Did your try “verify integrity of game files”?
right click - properties - installed files - verify integrity of game files
No. I rarely use Steam, so I don’t know its functionality well. We’ll try this evening and I’ll write if anything has changed. Thank you.
We checked. Now after checking Battleye is back. But the authentication error persisted. My son also noticed that after he receives this error, the inscription at the bottom right corner of the screen, where the ID on the Funcom network should be indicated, is missing. Although it was there before trying to connect to the server.
Do not answer if you do not wish to, but I will be asking the right questions now:
-
Was the “key” purchased VIA Steam store or some other way. If “other way” are you sure the key is valid, even if Steam “accepted” it (don’t know how that works leagally speaking but one can easily get a cheap(er) key for games.

Not a question but a statement: If you have the game that does not run due to “authentication…” then raise your case to Steam (Valve) and/or Funcom. There are established procedures and forms for that on both parts (even if you read it takes long)
My key’s an old one, purchased from Steam, no family sharing, I’ve played since 2018. I also keep getting “Authentication Failed” (along with a fair few people on my server). Another great Funcom fun ^^’
I bought the key through an online store, not Steam. Nevertheless, I also bought my key this way, and everything is fine with it. The game runs in single player mode. Problem with playing online. I sent report to Funcom in cathegory servers issues. But I read that applications take a very long time to be processed ![]()
I have only one key on one computer and today I also get an authorization error message. All the items from the Battlepacks are unavailable to me. This company has a direct link of all DLC to the client, but the Battle pass is linked to online authorization. This is the stupidity of FunCom and that’s how it works today on April Fools’ Day.
You have BattlePass-error and items are unavailable. You log back into the game over and over again, but the error persists.
Solution will be to remove the bracelet so that the character dies.
After that, you need to re-enter the game.
If you had active Sigils, well, you lost them, say “thank you to bugged FunCom”.
