Bans are Ruining the Game

Once again some elite pvp player/s have for some unknown reason decided that the only way that they can win is by using the reporting system to fight their battles for them.

This is getting really stupid now. When the rules were introduced we mistakenly thought that some of the cheating would end. But this is not the case, the rules have made no difference and the cheating continues. The only difference is that genuine honest players that buy the dlc’s and battle passes are the ones that get banned.

So my advise to anyone thinking of buying extra content for this game is DON’T at least until this madness ends.

Care to elaborate? I’ve never even heard of this issue up until now. And I’m not even sure that BattlEye does automatically ban users purely based on reports. Not as far as I know. Last time I worked on the other side in another game with battleye I remember it was a tad more complicated than just pushing the “report” button to get banned but I also could be wrong since I don’t know what sits between CE and BE. So I’m actually really curious as to what exactly is going on that you’re writing about

Also mainly since I play on private servers and never encountered this issue in my thousands of hours of playtime :man_shrugging:

Op is referring to players making reports directly to fc’s Zendesk.

If you are trying to report specific players or talk about specific incidents, then that is a Zendesk matter. (since you mentioned specific incidents)

If you’re just here to discuss this in general, then I would like to add that from my understanding typically Funcom staff doesn’t just blindly ban people because “someone told them to”…
This is simply not how it works… they might start their investigation due to a report… however they DO investigate and typically end up finding something out of order when they issue a ban.

There are some players who got banned for seemingly no reason potentially as a result of a mistake or so… and while these players exist… they are VERY VERY few in number… we’re talking less than 1% and in those cases those players typically provided all evidence they could and were completely transparent about it to where nobody could tell why they were banned.
The vast majority however in one way or another went against the rules, even if they weren’t aware of it and that’s what landed them the wipe and ban, not the enemy reporting them.

ooooooooooooh.
oooooooooooh.
Wtf why are people such spiteful basterds?

The human condition I suppose.

I’m pretty skeptical of people claiming they were unfairly banned, but it’s a common enough complaint that I hope fc continues to put energy into improving their process around this.

Have to agree. They really should discontinue blanket bans, especially for building. It does nothing but promote resentment, the servers are not healthier nor are they performing any better since they initiated this practice.

Either refine your building guidelines and actually utilize no build zones as they see fit or stop this madness.

Well where I worked at, some of the lads in production did find a way to solve this issue pretty effectively with BattlEyes system so I’d say Funcom’s on the right path here. And I’m skeptical too in that regards, can’t tell you how many calls of angry 12 year olds I had gotten back then that claimed they were banned for no reason. Nevermind that they were too young to play the game in question anyway. But yeah I do get that.

I just think, if they’d really tell the truth and this is pretty much the case, which I think it isn’t but considering it would, then that would mean there’s something between CE and BE that does something in this regard which could lead to such issues, be it Zendesk or something else.

Ooooor they’re just angry for being caught cheating. Honestly, some seemingly complex things can be answered fairly mundanely. :kkona:

I was banned for building some time ago, the guy who reported me openly told in chat that he and his group report peoples base for loot after the ban. Pure envy, those sick bastards are know trolls on the server, this guy had a lot of decorative claim on his base and tons of map room scathered over the map and Fc told me that ther no irregularity. And i was banned for having pathways between my buildings. Now i build only 20x20 to avoi those mtf fellas

This has been a pretty big issue for more than a year. Since Terms of Conduct revamp and enforcement back in late summer 2021.

Issues presented itself in the form of what OP is talking about in Dec. 2021.

Everything from spite reports, mass reports, lies and fabrications to garner enforcement to constant threats by those in the know.

There have been markedly obvious shifts in the process and how Zendesk handles the reports; coming to a head in spring of 2022 when the forum was filled by complaints by 2-3 posts per day.

I and my clan were also affected.

Since then there has been an addition to ToC regarding fake reports, although a bandaid, furthers the realization that the process is not perfect and Funcom does make mistakes.

Ultimately this rash of enforcement, with little education and understanding, and often no explanatory justification, has led to the exodus of some players. Or, like in my case, refusal to purchase any DLCs in any regard since.

Funcom has communicated that the rules are not clear enough and they’re working on them.

I’ve seen a reduction in posts on the forums, albeit not everyone visits to air their concerns, but it has been telling.

Regardless, the process is broken and poorly exercised. Having seen fake reports as tests done and enforcement successfully remove ToC compliant bases, it’s interesting.

Holy shit. Thanks for telling me. Feels like I’ve been living under a rock. I mean yeah, Funcom does make mistakes, they’re only human. Well, let’s just hope the christmas hiatus makes everyone come back to work with renewed energy to grapple this topic. Seems the To-Do List for CE is growing more than it’s shrinking.

Gawd this gives me a headache, we had the same shit happen in our company once Brexit and Covid came around. Shit went from bad to worse. Let’s just hope that won’t be the case here. I honestly enjoy CE enough to not want seeing it fall like that. Oh and DLC wise afaik you don’t have to worry, ever since the seasonal thing, it’s kinda gotten worse regarding ownership of items. I swear it looks like FCs struggling with something

No Edu  You were banned for building an entire RP town complete with individual shops for each crafting profession etc on an official server.
They specifically have a mention now about towns despite being pretty and decorative… they’re needless landclaim though.
So it wasn’t the pathways or anything specific… it was the fact that you cannot have buildings for purely aesthetic reasons without them having a functional and required purpose within reason. Basically when it comes to official servers… only take up as much space as you REALLY need to so that others have some free spots on the map as well.

I said this a few times though, your build was absolutely amazing and I loved it, however there was absolutely no doubt in my mind the very first time I saw the pictures that it’s a ToS violation and if I was the admin handling your case I would’ve also wiped it without hesitation (however I would’ve saved a copy for you to transfer to SP since it was a really good build :stuck_out_tongue: )

Yup I said this a while back as much as some items look interesting I’m not going to buy it only to be banned a week or month later. Just so everyone knows you can get permanently banned on your first offense. You know why? Devs are humans and they make mistakes but after tickets were sent in 4 of my clan mates still can’t play , almost three months later

 Do you still have a picture? I’d love to gaze upon that magnificient piece of architecture you speak of. Also yeah Edu, building an RP Town on an official server is kindaaa…eh…I mean look at certain other survival games on the high seas how laggy their starter areas are because people decide to build massive castles with murderholes, big moats and greek fire crocodiles (maybe not crocdiles but you get the point)

Aesthetically pleasing as such things are, running around withh 3FPS is not, because imagine if everyone would do that. :adnyshake:

I think that if i had enveloped everything on walls and made a floor abouve it with coloumns and ceilings and making it a mono square block i would had passed on admin filter like many other bases on server.

Hmm, maybe
Anyway, if I’m not mistaken these are of that base right? I recognize the signs  Share your Shelter - #985 by EduMariano
