Just a thought, but could base damage be split into 2 different sections in the server settings. Example: if doors got taken out of the current building mechanic an placed in there own category where you can buff the over all base damage except doors or only allowing doors to be damaged and to allow more control over the bomb happy mad hatter’s that are currently plaguing Conan exile’s
Explosive jars need to be harder to obtain or dragon powder either one needs a major nerf, think 20 dragon powder to make one explosive jar or even 50
How would only bombing doors work? You can easily access and close off a base now by breaking and rebuilding walls, since there is not mat loss anymore
Funcom is more likely to come up with features and settings that are applicable to official servers as well as unofficial. That said, they have been very generous with various server settings and toggles which probably won’t be used on officials, unless they want to make themed servers some day.
But an idea that would see use only on unofficial PvP servers? I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I like the basic principle behind your proposal, but the problem Tuffman presented would need to be addressed. Doors are so last season.
I can say this, that wouldn’t cause much issue for raiders. The limiting factor for jars isn’t its material cost. Its the fact jars cannot be stacked. 100 Dragonpowder (double even over what you suggested) per jar just means established clans with proper tools and facilities will be able to raid. The problem raiders are already in that category. Which means once they get a foothold, they are less likely to be dislodged.
If you want to limit bombs realistically. I would actually suggest reducing inventory size from 250 to 25. But you’re going to make a bunch of PVE peeps angry with that one.
Every single building piece is its “own category”… the reason they have the same HP is simply because the developers set them to the same for all pieces on purpose, but they had to set a value for each piece and similarly they can control them individually by piece… for example if they wanted to, they can make a nemedian door immune to explosives but still have 5 HP that you can punch through with your fists while leaving all other doors unaffected (just a random crazy example and not a suggestion…)
I mean if you want that for unofficial servers… you can pretty much make a server mod that does exactly what you want.
There are these servers with the giant label “PvE” on them where none of your building pieces (including doors) can be damaged by them.
My get at was, take doors out of the current code for building damage an give them they own e.g. two different settings 1 for over all damage an 2 for just doors if only doors can be popped people might not cry as much
Thinking it might better blend the PVE an PVP what’s left of it community
If they decide to go with my suggestion on drawing from placed and NPC inventories for building. The need for an excessive amount of personal inventory will go down drastically.
Few issues at hand that would require a more systematic fix.
Bombs are easy to make and store
Building is easily exploited to maximize defenses (deconstruct foundation vs having a door, abuse of building with high HP items etc)
Building hammer system is specifically developed to make building faster
Tweaking one over powers the other so they have to be redesigned in a more holistic way to ensure proper balance is maintained. Here is how I would deal with it all.
Windows need a standard HP across the board that is significantly weaker than walls… regardless of size. It’s a window for God’s sake. This would solve 99% of the p2w building items currently out…they are all windows and therefore should actually be weaker than walls.
While I think there should be a delay in foundation making, this isn’t the design of the game but leaving a base without a path in (removal of doors, elevators etc) should be against the ToS in PVP. It’s exploiting the build system in a way that is not remotely in the realm of immersion of the characters and therefore is no different than sky bases etc. You have to have access to your base in order to be a legit base. That isn’t something that can be coded in easiest it’s a ToS.
Bomb making should take longer and require an alchemy bench. No more on the fly mixing of explosive reagents from some dude bouncing around in the middle of a raid. It was dumb then, it’s still dumb now. Alternatively, you can have a 10%chance of blowing up with each HP lost while carrying DP or explosive jars. 5%if carrying explosive arrows.
Hmm… so if I carry 500 stone, 1000 wood, and 100 iron bars… I can make 10x Jars at a time rather than 1. Your suggestion encourages the industrialization of raiding.
Not even remotely the same thing in a strategic sense. Online raiding already has a preface of the raiders have initiated and therefore believe that they have the advantage over the defenders. Assuming there isn’t a cognitive issue of ego with the raiders, it is safe to assume this advantage would mean that your “simply” killing isn’t going to happen and therefore you are already fighting uphill. By putting another layer into raiding (demanding a raid base) requires far more strategic aspects of raiding than just charging in. If the raider does that, then the defender can out maneuver and counter attack the raid base and destroy the means of production so that the raid ends before the defender base is cracked. Also this means that there are clear intentions determined if the raid base is build.
As it stands now, there is no need for strategic thinking in PVP at all. Charge in, bonk them on the head, blow crap up, rinse and repeat. The raid base is simply a vault to hold the collection of kits to have on the ready and ability to store loot as needed.
There is some what of a balance needed it’s way to easy to obtain that stuff even though it is considered top tier loot, even gods are to easy to farm and they are useless in online raiding, funcom is purposely neglecting the PvP side of the game cause people are just stupid toxic, raiding someone for there stuff oh well ■■■■ happens, but to raid someone just to erase there presence on the server, I think you should have to sweat your ass off
