Bases decay too fast

Exactly.

Although it was the November 2021 change in Terms of Service that predicated my move from public servers, it is the ability to set the decay rate to 4 months that will keep me on private servers.

And, for the record, I believe a 10 day decay timer for a public server is 100% okay.

On a private server you can even turn off decay completely.
Just like it is on my server, once I see someone is gone for long I remove his stuff manually.

There’s nothing wrong with the decay timers. Conform to the community rules or start your own on a private server. You have other options. When I hear something I don’t like on the tv or radio I don’t demand they change format
I just change the station. Your needs are clearly in the minority given the lack of other such relevant posts on the forum. Sorry you lost your stuff, but it’s your unwillingness to follow the ToS that decayed your base.
We all have lives outside Conan. If yours is so busy that you don’t have 5 minutes to log in then you’re playing the wrong game. :man_shrugging:

For N/A PVP the most popular servers consistently are 1530, 1540 and 1800.

For 1530 there has been an ongoing serious issue with lag; my friends and I refuse to play there as a result.

All 3 have huge issues with hackers.

They would be 40/40 with queues and others opting to fill up additional servers if it wasn’t for this constant plague.

Generally they are close to that during raid hours though, not sure if you’re looking at the server list at those times. It would be required to take that into consideration.

We do not need another nerf to building damage. It’s already stupidly easy to raid. Most bases, even big ones, can be wiped in an hour or less.

I think 10 days is more than enough, keeps the majority of re setters away

This bears repeating: if PVP servers are empty, it’s not because the decay timer is driving people away, it’s because of cheaters/hackers/exploiters and performance problems.

Absolutely.

There is some dip in pop because of combat but I believe it is across the board.

But even if that is only part of it I know many who would still play if it wasn’t for these problems.

Agree, hackers and cheaters are the reason I’m moving away from official servers.

OP, it would simply be less grievous if you walked away from this.
You’re not going to win your argument.
You don’t have a foot to stand on.

There are also new survival games coming out, with new better graphics and mechanics.
Many of “my” players had short romance with Valheim but eventually returned.
But nowadays I see majority of people switching to refreshed Ark.

Yes and then there is that pokemon style game too.

Ark:SA is losing players to servers running the original ARK. ARK is it’s own competition

I played Enshrouded, owes me 40 more hours of play. I’ll get Nightingale when its on sale
These survival games are squad base, don’t have public servers, and will only last as long as it’s takes people to get to the end of them. These are not Conan. People have been playing on the public servers since the servers were new, 5 years+ In a year people will be saying Palwhat? Helldivisions too? Remember Smalland?

If the developers listen to you, Conan will definitely die.

It takes 10 minutes to refresh a base. If you and your “friends” can’t come up with 10 minutes to refresh your base? You shouldn’t be playing on officials, real simple.

Increasing the Decay will also not help Funcom make $$$. If players are logging in once every 30 days, how do they make $$$? They don’t.

You need to accept the decay rules.

Interesting how a private server owner views the current state of the game.

I think you’re view has more to do with the lack of players on your own server.

Does anyone else notice a trend of serial freshers lately?

I would point out that this ‘style’ of player causes a bunch of problems for many on a variety of servers. They contribute to server performance drops, take up space that is unused, and cause a significant amount of landclaim drama that leads to people being actioned.

While this can happen on private servers too, it definitely causes issues on the Funcom servers.

Proper gatekeeping of this ‘style’ of player is definitely needed in this community. Should have been done from the start, but better late then never.

Gratz you met the 5 fanboys in here, you wrote ur feedback hope devs read it.

No need to worry about the fanboys tho.

And you yourself definitely need some more love. Maybe if you stop being so grumpy or try to attend some therapy sessions then eventually someone will smile upon you.

I’m doing it right now.

I can say the same about people that log in daily just to be the server saint, or add another wing to their city state.

Serial refreshing a hut isn’t the same a serial refreshing Rome.

Conan has always had longer decay timers during holidays such as christmas. The actual timer used to be just 7 days, but they increased it into 10 due to popular demand. I think its fine as is. We dont want stuff of people who have left the game to stick around too long.

All you need to do is log in and look at your base to have the decay timer reset. Stuff that is connected with construction pieces shares a timer.
You can do that once in 10 days, right?
Note that sandstone doesnt get a full timer. I do a round trip of all my constructions once a week. Its fine, just spend a little effort.

ps. You can check the timer with repair hammer. Both your stuff and others. Just in case the server is not being too slow and timer actually resets.

Claiming land just for the sake of claiming it is against the rules however. I recommend you take a look at the CoC. If you litter the landscape with pointless foundations get ready to be reported and potentially have your stuff admin deleted.
