Close enough Still a good value imo.
My hope was they would possibly contract more independant artists to work on things or they have a big enough staff and it could allow for more “crazy” stuff that wouldnt normally be in a dlc pack. Im excited to see.
All I can say is from my experience with BP’s and stores (Bloodhunt), there was a set of eye color that I wanted but didn’t have the tokens for it at the time. Well I finally got the tokens and waited. There was a similar eye color but slightly different hue so there can be things you miss and it may come back very fast if it’s just slightly off.
A battle pass is a set of quest that one is given to perform in game.
Such as kill a certain number of a specific enemy type.
Example: Kill 5 crocodiles.
Completing those quests gives you points.
At certain point levels you receive rewards, such as the ability to craft a new look of weapon.
Much like Iron Sword, Pictish Sword and Aquilonian Sword have the same statistics, but just look different. That is a cosmetic difference.
Also, there may be the ability to craft certain placeables.
Like the Watcher table and bed from the twitch event.
Many Battle Passes have two reward charts.
Everyone gets the “Free” rewards for accumulating points.
Those who purchase the premium pass have more rewards on the list. In some games, purchasing the premium pass gives you numerous points towards getting rewards as well.
It is not a subscription that is required to play the game. Nor are there usually major in game benefits. It’s almost exclusively cosmetic rewards.
Well that’s what has me wondering - I saw that crom coins were some of the rewards and I’m not sure if that was to mean like you actually GET the cost of the BP on top of those or if by then you’ll have enough of them that it’s equal (assuming you didn’t spend any like on that swanky sandstone kit).
It’s not an issue with the Battle Pass. Nobody is complaining about the Battle Pass. All gamers can appreciate a Battle Pass. It’s the artificial limiting of digital content via time constraints that ruins it for some people (casual players). It’s called FOMO(Fear of Missing Out). A predatory tactic they use to try to increase immediate. No harm in allowing previous Battle Pass gear to continue to be acquirable.
There are numerous games where these “Battle Passes” have soured because of the FOMO aspect of it, which is unnecessary and unpopular.
That’s why FOMO is a negative term, not a positive one.
It’s the latter.
I may be naive, but when were battle pass rewards not constrained by the season? Doesn’t it go just hand-in-hand?
Doesn’t have to.
They could allow you to play old battle passes, or add old battle pass content to the store.
Den even said his original plan was to have the stuff added to the store, but was convinced otherwise by their monetization expert (AKA professional parasite).
Right I recognize it doesn’t need to be but is there a precedent of this in the BP business model history?
Why should that matter? Set a precedent if necessary.
I don’t play other games with battle passes for a reason.
This one likes Den’s original idea.
Even if it is at inflated cost or with a delay, for example, the previous season doesn’t become available until the current one ends, so 3 month delay.
There are so many changes going to happen, it is going to be practically a new game. This change from paid DLC to battle pass is just one. We just got more intel on the battle pass but I expect the new attribute system will upset lots of people as well.
I’ll say it again, don’t put battle passes and seasons in the game. I don’t want to have to force myself to play to unlock content I want when i could just buy a dlc pack instead.
Just stick with dlc packs. there are a lot of people who come and go playing conan on private servers or the like, and if you lock this stuff up behind time gated passes you are just gonna lose those people. They don’t want to be forced to play to unlock content they want.
Because many businesses aren’t willing to put their entire business at risk that will affect the livelihoods of the 200 some folks that work for them. See you are looking at this with your own perspective, and FC has to review it all based on all of their staff. You are more than willing to risk that because it doesn’t affect your income. Would you put your income on the line for this unprecedented business model?
This one almost forgot.
High praise for the Paid Battle Pass generating enough “Crom Coins” to purchase the next Paid Battle Pass, basically making it a one time investment.
You can use those coins in the store too right?
Yes, you can either save them up which would equal the total cost of the battlepass after you’ve completed it, thereby refunding you so you may purchase the next battle pass. Or, you can use those coins right away for something in the store.
Yep and that is the issue…you have enough to repeat as long as you complete the BP…but there is always that one thing for sale that is just too good to let go…and then you gotta add more coin to your account.
Awesome!
