Best way to defend against those annoying flying bats?

I just started playing again and saw that people can fly bats up to your base. How exactly can I get my guarding archers to shoot them down if they don’t attack players before raid time? They can just fly up to my roof and place 30 bombs with no repercussions before raid begins

I’d prefer not to actively be online and defending for several hours each day, I have too much to do irl. But it seems thralls are completely worthless now unless I make 20 zombies

Should I just place a ton of palisades? Seems to be the only way to actually damage someone who lands without shooting them yourself first (I have never used a bow in this game)

Before anyone says go to PVE, this game is barebones as hell lore wise and I’m not an intricate base builder

Now that there’s flying bats and ice bridges pvp is a joke.

From experience, use some archers with oil and smoke arrows, make the rest fighters. This will ruin their day when raid window starts. At the very least it’ll slow them down and spend more resources. Thralls are not worthless. And yes, palisades could help as well if you spam enough of them as opposed to thralls.

Note: this is if you have a tower base with significant anticlimb in place. And yes, lighting storm is a thing, but they would have to use about 5 or 6 to do anything to the top, and that still doesn’t guarantee getting rid of the anticlimb and your thralls.

Another note: yes, funcom is making it so if you aren’t online to defend, you could be screwed. Agree or not, this is their answer to the base spam people have come up with to deal with ofine raids. They want pvp to happen, and if you go offline, there’s a cost. Again, agree or not, this is the way it is at the moment. The days of unreadable in 6 hours while a person or clan is offline are over, and IMO, this is intended.

They think you should have a “cost” for going offline? What kind of joke is that? Few people actually have the time and or mental fortitude to stay on a video game for 6 hours every single day

I just want to understand their logic. To hell with the casual players and we want to punish you for not dedicating all your free time to us and our crappy battle pass?

I’m either going to find an unofficial server that restricts those spells or i’m going back to ESO lol this is just too much. It’s like we are guinea pigs

Yup, aerial combat is now a thing. We have to start thinking about defending our air space!

I like it!!!

Ya man, didn’t say I agree with it, just laying out the way it is right now. Sadly most people have defended their bases with base spam, and the net result is this. And really it is all Funcom’s fault for it getting to this point. But that’s where we’re at.

Yea man, I’ve been using specialist ammo 4 since it was released. I almost never find anyone else using it but that stuff works when properly deployed. Gotta get creative.

I mean they thought it was so smart on their part, but all I have to do is place 4 layers of trap roofs full of palisades, aka base spam. I bet the developer in charge was so proud of his 95 IQ

I agree. Short of people doing even more mass reporting for bannable base spam, some of these spells encourage defenders to get even worse. Rather hard work with thralls and creative defenses, the easy route it building pieces. FC seems to not really understand human behavior and the fact we gravitate to what’s easiest.

It’s not as cool as you think it is. So far, all aerial combat i have seen just consists of a group of 10 people placing a pouch/bomb vault, placing sleeping bags and spamming their naked bodies with the bat flight until your thralls are exhausted of defenses

This crap reminds me of Ark and not in a good way

Wait just a damn second, you can get banned for making your base too defensible/big?

Read the rules that are posted on the forum…

I don’t care about it that much, not really a reader of page-long rules anyways but thanks for earlier info

No. Well, not really anyway. The rule writers say it’s all about intent and effectual purpose. If the intent is to prevent another player from accessing game content or lag the server out… or the effects are that… then yeah, they suspend you and wipe your base. Typically, the third time that happens they ban you from Official Servers.

There’s a lot of problems with that system tho. :stuck_out_tongue:
