I have unlocked the better fish traps but now need vines. My base is in the north near THE POCKET. But I have had no luck finding vines. What would be the best way? Thank you in advance

One possibility would be south in the desert canyon, look for certain small palm trees, they have vines hanging on them. Or kill Rotbranch

Pretty much like Muelee said, just harvest the small palm trees. They are fairly common in both the River and Jungle biomes. Harvest them using a pick, or as I personally prefer to use, a sickle. This way you wont end up having to constantly drop excess wood and bark. The higher tier the tool, the more Vines you will yield with each swing.

We just put the wood and bark in a critter or thrall since we have to have one with us all the time.

Many people probably will do just that Hyborian_Jones, or take out the 5th Encumberance perk and just do a bulk harvest run. It is definately the best way to go for clans too. But as a purely offline Singleplayer who has playing since launch and now has a three-storey black ice manor, my building exploits have well and truly wound down. I also already have a full stack of most resources in reserve too. I guess that what I am trying to get at is that there is only so much a one man ‘clan’ needs for himself. Especially before I start running out of storage room.
