Brightness issue is back again.. after update 2.8

Game mode: Online, (Private Server - GPortal.)
Type of issue: Bug maybe?
Server type: PvE
Region: EU
Mods?: No. (No mods have ever been installed as yet, for this game).
Edition: Steam, (Winter sale All DLC complete bundle)

Bug Description:

Since the latest update (2.8) the screen is way too bright, I cannot see any distant image. Also the textures load distance doesn’t seem very far at all. (see images of trees)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Step 1 Just log in and play the game. The gamma setting is on default. Go to the beach to see this effect best. Far east side of map, where the Islands are. (screenshots)
(EDIT) As a side note, the ‘sun’ is not even in the shot, it is actually behind the ‘camera’!

Image below shows washed-out brightness, over-exposure. Also, the textures on the trees don’t seem to be loading properly. (I’m not too impressed by the textures here, the settings are all on Ultra- any of the cinematic modes tend to cause issues of particle/artefacts around edges of objects)

Close up of player character in ‘Fly’ mode. All details are washed out and very bright - gamma is at default setting.

When I turn AA off the water surface changes to this:

Below is an image regarding the particle effects in the shadows. Take note around the Iron ore and the character’s legs. This is with settings on ‘cinematic’. You can just about see in the background, the brightness issue:

I am running a Asrock ZX-97 Killer motherboard, Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 GPU, Intel I7 processor, (4GB), 16gb memory, LED tv, at 1920x1080p. In the images, I have my colours set to the GPU (full dynamic) setting.

I noticed this as well and no matter what settings I try with Nvidia, my monitor or a combination of both, it will not fix it.

While I appreciate the immersion of having to use a torch the shadows in dungeons are now completely pitch black as well so you cannot see a slight outline of any content.

Greetings @Mercd_One!

Our team tested this issue and suggested what might be a solution for your case.
Try deleting your Game.ini and DefaultGame.ini files and use Steam’s “Verify files” option.

You can find such files following this path:
steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Game.ini
steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Config\DefaultGame.ini

We hope this helps. Make sure to get back to us if the issue still persists.

I have the exact same issue, tried deleting the files suggested and unfortunately no change on the brightness on the jungle area.

System info:
I5 10400F 2.9 GHz
Nvidia GTX 1660 6Gb driver version 511.79
16 Gb system RAM

This is also affecting playstation as well

Updated my post above with system specification.
But this clearly is a setting issue with High, Ultra and Cinematic, since Medium post processing dosent have it.

GPU: RTX 2070 Super
Graphics: Ultra
Resolution: 1920x1080
Volumetric Fog: Enabled
Vertical FOV: 51
Horizontal FOV 64.9
Anti-Aliasing: x6

I believe the Dagon’s Eye is just a super bright or super dark biome.

Reviewing all of the areas, I am seeing only that location is extremely bright when you are not under tree cover or it is not raining

A workaround: if you have the Night stalker’s mask, put it on, then unequip it! It will bring down the brightness to a bearable level.
Not sure if it still works, but when I played on EL a couple months ago, it worked. (Worked = probably the mask itself is problematic, because if you unequip it, it will make the lighting darker than before.)

In my case, I can just use the display drivers to make it look right. Problem is, then IoS looks way too dark. It’s fine for people only playing on EL tho I suppose.

Funcom should probably equalize both maps brightness. I tried even using mods that alter the weather to see if it becomes bearable in the jungle, but said mods where broken with 2.7 update change to image space or lighting.

Still no fix from devs?

Tried this fix, however my game is still bright.

Greetings,

Thank you for trying the suggested steps. We will report back to the team.

Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you all for your support.
