They haven’t foiled structural integrity yet. That would work.
Unless they build on cliffs.
lol…we’re back to the same thing.
Maybe you’re right. Still, they should try different stuff. People are going to behave even more abusively with poison arrows and once they figure out how to put convergence trap farming into it, the damage to the server economy will be real.
Yep, they are. I think it’s a good thing to try to shake things up. They have an entirely different map to do this on, so I hope they get it right.
I’m really looking forward to the crafting update. More interactive thralls sounds great. And once we get access to the tower, it should be a real testing ground for all that delving bench gear. Their goals to reach seem feasible, so I am hoping they succeed in getting the content right for people to enjoy.
PvE seems doomed though, the griefing there sounds to be more extreme than on PvP servers. Not many ways you can fix people spearing your thrall from horseback as you race to your wheel. Unless they count roped NPCs as player property and thus invulnerable to player damage.
That’s a new one to me - but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Rampant assholery is unfortunately human nature when given the “gift” of anonymity in online play.
Why just why bring broken purges to the Isle really , play on the old map if you want those broken things in your game. You want some excitement put on your big boy pants and build in the middle of the storm and then you can fight monsters from the storm or play on the old map which has purges.
Why is it that every single time Funcom tries to do something its do this, put that, remove that
why does it not suit me only comments. Could we maybe just let them finish this DLC before we go tearing it apart to suit certain groups.
No purge no purge thralls NO NEED for 20 thralls to save you from the purge. I can build , have my crafters, a thrall or two around for sake of base not empty but no need for thralls deep every where, its awesome not having to have 20 thralls. This DLC finally fixes that crap with hundreds of thralls all over the map making most server unplayable.
Embrace the new map the way it is intended.
There is lots to keep PVE busy if they look and just go and explore, the amount of places to build is amazing, each more beautiful then the next and who needs a broken purge that give you nothing but more broken things in a sand storm which makes no sense at all to have on an island with no real desert area. Purges make no sense at all on the new DLC. Embrace the new map the way it is intended.
I totally agree with you. I also don’t want to see the storm completely overrun with giant megastructures owned by players that only log in once a week to keep them from decaying.
I’d love to see a happy medium where I can build a base, and as long as I’m actively maintaining it, it can survive.
What do I mean by active maintenance? Repairing damaged building pieces. Replacing stuff that was completely destroyed. Making sure my thralls are fed so they can heal up between fights. Replacing dead thralls with fresh recruits. Making new gear to outfit those new thralls.
@Subotai_Archer_Thief I agree with the ‘monsters should wander out of the Maelstrom’. Although I play on private servers that Admins have added extra creatures to, it would be a lot of fun if some of the creatures (or groups) would wander random paths across the map. If there was a level cap for a group or single wandering NPC, then you wouldn’t have the risk of five max level creatures obliterating everything in their path.
Oh, I have no doubts at all of course, that if Funcom introduced something like this that it would be a ‘New York second’ before it would be ‘hated’ and exploited, but it would be fun and would increase the ‘if you should go down to the woods tonight …’
Private Server Admins usually add all manner of clever challenges. Try a private server and you may find things a little more random and exciting.
If purges are pointless mobs destroying your base… please no…
A purge should have something as a reward, a named thrall for example.
I really hate the purges since they’re buggy at best:
I always got useless purges dealing massive damage to my base all the time (rewards like reptile hides and such)
A purge proof base often looks spiky and ugly (in PvE players just spammed 100rds of them, making mounts useless and often block off large areas of the map)
The purges are laggy and dont use any tactic other than destroy random stuff
Purges can spawn inside your base, so the purge prevention outside became useless there goes your chests and benches again…
My thralls/pets just stand still and do nothing, then die in the process
I was getting purged by other clans purges… they should focus the clans purge NOT the closest to their spawn
Seriously… purges are so trash… I hate them from the bottom of my heart
What if, based on how long you’ve built your base and the amount of work you do everyday - just like the purge bar adds up - you get random castaways to “apply” to join your force? Or other events? (Not combat based.)
So you don’t get raided, you don’t have to build T3 if you are just enjoying the change of pace from Exiles, but you still have some reason to bring activity to your base. Just surviving and thriving in that environment could attract NPCs without anywhere to go, who you can reject or take in as thralls without a home.
Or other occurrences.
So, it’s still a reward for being active but you don’t have to build in ways you don’t want to, at least outside the maelstrom.
I feel that in general, bases are too static. But that doesn’t mean there has to be a reason to build Helm’s Deep everytime.
Why not build…a village?
There could be economic factors at play, such as currencies generated by thralls that you can only get from NPCs, not farm yourself in the world, which can contribute to some sort of “under the hood” activity that can simulate some activity in your base other than thralls standing around staring at each other.
What if maelstrom lightning strikes (carrying chaos creatures) could happen near your base. They would desire your accumulated chaos (???) and target it. They will attempt to break through your defenses including your vault or chest (whatever and wherever it is stored) and steal your chaos. If they can grab some (lumps of 5?) they will then run back into the maelstrom and vanish.
