Bug: Discrepancies in Authority-targeted Armor Stats (Testlive 3.0.1)

I spent the last few hours going through most of the armors in Testlive (3.0.1) and I noticed a ton of inconsistencies and outright errors in the bonus stat values of the new armor system. As a quick example of one of the most glaring errors:

Nemedian Scout Headgear: +10% concussive damage
Nemedian Scout Headgear (Epic): +5% concussive damage

Nemedian Scout Discrepency

The epic version of each of the Nemedian Scout DLC armors give half as much concussive bonus damage as the regular version. This is before any thrall bonus. With a T4 thrall, the epic helmet becomes only +7%, while the regular version becomes +12%.

Soon after, I realized this was only a small part of a larger, underlying issue found among dozens of armor sets. The game can’t decide if the armor stat bonus for 1 point of Authority should be

  1. +4% follower damage
  2. +5% concussive damage
  3. +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage
  4. +10% concussive damage
  5. +4% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage

It’s clear how one programmer can think a single point of accuracy (now Authority) was meant to be #4 for Nemedian Scout regular, while another thought one point for the epic version is meant to be #2, and thus these discrepancies are found. Everyone one of these five approaches has examples. In some cases, it’s a big deal. A single piece of #5 gives the bonus of three pieces of #1s and #2s, even though each of them was only meant to cover a single point of Authority. All the other stat bonuses are static and clear. For each single point, Strength became +3% S-weapon damage, Agility became +3% A-weapon damage, Vitality became +20 hp, Grit became +5 stamina, and Encumberance became +15 carrying. Only Authority has this inconsistent range for what was a single point.

I personally believe #3 is what should be the baseline. Each point of Authority directly benefits both stats, so it makes the most sense. An example of #3 is the Yoggite Skin religious armor set. Previously, each piece gave +2 Survival. With two points of Authority-equivalent, that becomes +8% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage (which is what it does). Hyena-Fur gloves, leggings, and boots are another example of #3. Previously, each piece gave +1 Survival, and now each piece gives +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage. Reinforced Skelos Cultist Set is #3 too.

No matter how you grill this, however, it means a monumental task of fixing dozens of armors to coincide with a consistent system. And we are only 2 days away from release. I understand it might not be realistic, but fortunately it’s just adjusting some values in data tables.

In the interest of simplifying the task, on whatever baseline is chosen, here is a list of all current Authority-targeted armors I found, sorted by type.

  1. [+4% follower damage per point]
*Hyrkanian Raider set: each piece +4% follower damage (prev each 1 pt Accuracy)
*Hyrkanian Raider set (Epic): each piece +4% follower damage (prev each 1 pt Accuracy)
*Setite Choker: +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Accuracy)
*Setite Sandals: +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Accuracy)
*Skelos Cult Master set: each piece +8% follower damage (prev each 2 pt Survival)
*Poitain Cavalier set: each piece +4% follower damage (prev each 1 pt Accuracy)
*Poitain Cavalier set (Epic): each piece +4% follower damage (prev each 1 pt Accuracy)
*Turan Scout Helmet: +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Chestpiece: +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Leggings: +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Helmet (Epic): +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Chestpiece (Epic): +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Leggings (Epic): +4% follower damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Derketo Dancer set: each piece +4% follower damage (prev each 0 pts to anything)

  2. [+5% concussive damage per point]
*Setite Mask: +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Accuracy)
*Setite Shendyt: +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Accuracy)
*Pride of Aesir Helmet: +10% concussive damage (prev 2 pts Accuracy)
*Nemedian Scout set (Epic): each piece +5% concussive damage (prev each 1 pt Accuracy)
*Turan Scout Gloves: +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Boots: +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Gloves (Epic): +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Turan Scout Boots (Epic): +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)

  3. [+4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage per point]
*Yoggite Skin set: each piece +8% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage (prev each 2 pts Survival)
*Hyena-fur Gloves: +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Hyena-fur Wrap: +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Hyena-fur Boots: +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Hyena-fur Gloves (Epic): +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Hyena-fur Wrap (Epic): +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Hyena-fur Boots (Epic): +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Reinforced Skelos Cultist set (minus gloves): each piece +8% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage (prev each 2 pts Survival)
*Reinforced Skelos Cultist Handwraps: +4% follower damage AND +5% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)

  4. [+10% concussive damage per point]
*Nemedian Scout set: each piece +10% concussive damage (prev each 1 pt Accuracy)

  5. [+4% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage per point]
*Lemurian Royal set: each piece +4% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage (prev each 1 pt Survival)
*Setite Cult Helmet: +4% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)
*Setite Cult Helmet (Epic): +4% follower damage AND +10% concussive damage (prev 1 pt Survival)

That’s the wrap. It is my opinion that the 7 pieces of #5 should have their concussive damage nerfed to match #3, and that all the #1s and #2s should make friends and add their values to together, and that Nemedian Scout regular should be outright fixed, but it’s up to the dev’s intentions.

It’s worth mentioning that not a single eldarium-infused armor piece (175 armor pieces) has a bonus to follower damage or concussive damage, let alone both, despite their many dual-bonuses. I also noticed a few other inconsistencies in some other individual pieces targeted at different stats, but the guidelines say each bug report should be devoted to one topic.

Kind regards.
