Hi all,
I am looking to finish some buildings and was wondering what the strongest building materials are?
More to the point are the DLC building materials stronger than the T3 ones?
I can’t seem to see the tier level.
Thanks!
No, DLC are just ordinary T3 with various skins. Payed content does not give any serious advantage in this game, just cosmetics and some saved Feat Points if you use DLC weapon and Armor instead of learning other recipes.
Thank you!
There is one advantage to DLC armors, which is that any T4 armorer can craft the Epic Flawless version of any DLC armor, whereas vanilla armors need specific armorers, and each armorer can do only one or two specific sets. It’s not a MASSIVE advantage, but it’s not negligible, either.
The buildings are all exactly equivalent in power, cost etc to Hardened Brick (“regular T3”), which is - at least according to some people - more difficult to farm than Black Ice. If true (I make no judgment either way) this would put DLC building styles at a disadvantage.
All DLC building pieces are equivalent In HP to black ice, making them T3. They do, however, take a large amount of hardened brick to make, unlike black ice building pieces. Even with the increase in black ice required to make black ice T3, it’s still easier to make than farming a bunch of hardened brick for DLC T3.
The only reason to use DLC pieces are for pure aesthetics. They typically look better than black ice does. It was really disappointing to find this out. Having paid for every DLC to support the game, I’ve yet to actually use any of them for building save for small applications because of the hassle.
They now made same costs to build in black ice as with hardened bricks.
It was cheaper before last update because the needing in black ice was lesser than the one in hardened bricks. Now they are more or less equivalent.
Yes, basically, now black ice buildings require as much black ice than reinforced stone buildings require stones to make the hardened bricks.
Hardened bricks require other ressources and a have crafting time cost black ice don’t have.
But considering insulated wood (necessary for black ice buildings) have additionnal ressources cost and crafting time compared to shaped wood (reinforced stone), the overall costs are now pretty much the same.
It comes more to what is more easiliy avaible to you :
If Ichor isn’t an issue for you, making hardened bricks isn’t hard.
If bark and resin are not an issue for you and you’r close from black ice nods, making black ice buildingd isn’t hard.
I find that steel reinforments, necessary for both, is the most time consuming ressource if you choose the type of building the most readily avaible to you.
Not because the ressources are hard to come by, they are easy to come by. But just because of crafting times … so much intermediary craftings :
- To make steel reinforcements, to star with you need to produce tar (crafting time).
- Then, harvest brimstone to make steelfire out of the tar (+ crafting time).
- Then, harvest iron ore and smelt it into iron ingots (++ crafting time).
- Then, smelt steelfire and iron ingots to make steel ingots (+++ crafting time).
- Then, have the steel ingots crafted into steel reinforcements (++++ crafting time)
It’s loooonnngggg …
If you want it to be efficient, you need to produce tar, steelfire, iron ingots, steel ingots and steel reinforcements. All at the same time.
And you wont be producing much hardened steel while you are building steel reinforcements …
Hi All,
Thanks for the replies and info. I know know how I am going to proceed!
Cheers!
I recommend buying Khitan DLC. The skins look cool, and the medium set gives you resistance against cold and +8 STR if you wear full epic set. Very useful combination of stats.
Building block example:
I’ve built a lot more since but haven’t uploaded any images. Anyway their armors, weapons and placeables are strong points I think, though build blocks aren’t everyone’s favorite it seems.
Thank you Ekto, I bought it!
Nice
