Buildings not loading, desyncing from the server - Feedback thread

I’ve been playing for the last few hours with minimal bugs but now I can’t even interact with things like my doors and benches at The Mounds of The Dead. I just finished building a small fishing hut on the water right before this issue started. I’ve tried logging out and back in with no success, and I even logged completely out of Steam and restarted. Checked my internet connection and it’s not on this end. I can’t even retrieve my body because the game is gitched so bad. Removing my bracelet did nothing. Half the time when I try to restart the game I can’t even use my toolbar or move, I can only look left, right, up and down. I’m not the only one to have this issue on this server (which needs some severe work). I have no mods and am on an official PVE server #1745

Update: Just for curiosity I ran out of the Mounds area and ran back to my main base frequently logging in and out. Apparently it’s a severe sync issue and/or lag in that specific area because once I got past C-11 on the map I could see the normal buildings and everything is working as normal.


Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Log a character in B-11 area, otherwise no other way to reproduce issue.

I have a similar issue. I cannot interact with Loot chests that look similar to the “Large Chest”. The wooden chests work and the boss chests as well.
I restarted my PC, server was restarted and I even reinstalled the game.

No change.

Bug:

Upon entering the load range of a particular building, a number of updates from the server appear to stop:

  • NPCs belonging to a camp near the building (well outside land claim radius) never load in.
  • Stamina regen stops.
  • Other buildings which normally load without issue, after leaving the area, do not load at all without a relog.
  • The building in question never loads completely when logging in from within the load range, does not appear to load in at all if logging in from outside the load range and then walking or flying into range.
  • Admin teleport commands bring up the loading screen, but seemingly fail after some time only to leave the player at the affected site. The teleport command appears to execute server-side however, as relogging afterward spawns the player at the teleport destination despite the apparent failure in the previous session.
  • If logging in at the site, admin teleport from the map is not an available action (UI reflects non-admin status after executing makemeadmin)
  • Spawning items into inventory from the admin panel appears to work, but placing items in the world does not. Relogging afterwards leaves spawned items in inventory, and [correction] shows that placement attempts succeeded, despite object counts in inventory not changing - this took a couple relogging attempts to verify.

Of possible relevance: the building in question contains tiles from 4 sets - Aquilonian, Frontier, Yamatai, and Insulated Wood. A similar structure on a 70 slot private server (with mods) using only Aquilonian does not appear to have the same issues (same approximate build location, nearly identical structure).

More relogging attempts are showing some variation in behavior.

  • [Correction] Some nearby NPCs sometimes spawn when logging in at the site (number that spawn changes between login attempts), and aggro as expected. When attacking, these NPCs seem to have their locations out of sync client side - for example, one with shield and sword appears to enter attack animations while 15+ yards away (her spawn in location), and facing the wrong direction; her forward movement appears to all be part of the attack animation, and at the end of the attack sequence, she teleports to her spawn in location only to try another set of attacks in the wrong direction, still too far away. Stamina doesn’t regen even if this case however.
  • When logging in at the site, the Admin Panel does not appear after executing makemeadmin, seemingly consistent with the map UI for admins not updating.
  • Attempts to add to the affected building mostly work, even if some changes don’t appear to work within the session (requiring a relog to appear) while other changes appear immediately.

It’s the same type of bug that was fixed previously. It’s back. On a private server. No mods. Can’t interact with anything. Building pieces missing. Many are frontier pieces. No stamina regen. Can’t die from falling. Infinite load screens on death. Only known work around, server restarts. Unplayable.

I have this exact same problem, playing at Official #1032 (PVP). It started with seemingly infinite loading screens, and after a dozen attempts or so I finally got back in the game only to find our base partially loading, me being unable to interact with anything, inventory not loading, drinking or eating having no effect.

Oddly enough this sort of “playing” was enough for the game to consider me being killable and I died in our base because I couldn’t eat or drink. Fetching my corpse was impossible under the previously mentioned conditions. Upon death I respawned in our second base. While it was noticeably slow, the base loaded and there I could interact with the few things I tried (chests, inventory). Also weird was that I could interact with other players on the server in chat, and no one else reported having problems; after this I decided to re-install the entire game to see if it would have been only on my end. This had no impact on the issue.

I tried again this morning before going to work - according to Battlemetrics the server has been down on few occasions during the night - but the same problem persists.

It would appear that the bug is held to a specific location. I can pull my bracelet and choose to go to my bed. I then get an infinite loading screen and have to task manager-shut down the game as it becomes completely unresponsive. The game will then load just fine and I’ll spawn at whatever location I chose before the infinite loading screen. I can then use the map room (including anything else in my main base) and start physically running to my build location where the bug occurred. As the build begins to load in view distance, the bug kicks back in. Anything loaded in as the bug kicks in, stops moving. I can hear hyenas biting me, but they aren’t moving. I lose no health that I can see and my stamina will not regenerate.

I’m having the same issues, am able to chat with people, and no-one else has any issues. It started out of the blue for no apparent reason - I was playing and having no problems in the afternoon, then when I logged in an hour or so later, all of the above problems. No mods (as it’s an official server).

So, there is a huge issue on our server that we initially thought to be only for us in the clan, but bypasser have encountered the issue.
Whenever we get to one of our main bases at 6G, things simply stop loading around and half of the base (including doors, walls, thralls, pets, etc…) just stops rendering and loading. Standing there for hours does not help at all. It seems to be related to the area (The Sinkhole Area, above Thugra’s Stand) and that starts happening and walking around the map does not help as it feels like the game is still trying to load that and doesn’t load anything.
The only thing I have managed to do thus far was to get away from that base. However, it’s a very important base for our clan and our strategies, so it’s very used.
This is the work around to at least play the game (using the base itself has proven to be impossible at least for now):

  1. Walk away from it and find a Map Room (luckily there is one right next to the Sinkhole)
  2. If the Map Room doesn’t load, log out and log back in. It should render it.
  3. Make your way to another Obelisc. You will be teleported, but in your game, you will still be in the desert.
  4. Log out and log back in. That will show your REAL location/position, which is near the Obelisc you went to.
  5. Play around but not on that base.

This is not the first time it has happened to me and it has also happened at least twice for two other clan members and for two other “random” players that were walking around.


Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Join the server (Official #1986)
  2. Get to the Sinkhole Obelisc)
  3. Walk towards our base

Since the issue happened the first time, I have already (for other reasons), reinstalled Windows and the game completely.
