Can we get some examples in a little more detail on mega bases

lately I have seen a lot people posting on Facebook pages that they are being banned. A lot of them are saying for foundation spamming, fence Foundation spamming, Mega bases. BUT a lot of people are saying the rules are not very clear and I agree with them can we please get some better information on some of these things?

Maybe we could get a fps counter gauge for bases so that player can get a small bit of insight of what their builds do to server performance.

That is a good idea. BUT I have a series X and a monitor that supports the higher FPS. But if someone is playing on a older X-Box and is playing on a TV will that really help?

I really hope someone from funcom will at least give us some insight of this situation

As I understand it - the lag in question is ‘server-lag’ not ‘client-lag’. These are not the same thing - so while an individual player on an older gen console might experience more lag, that would be client lag, and shouldn’t lead to a ban. The problem is that server lag is much harder for a player to judge, since we have no way to distinguish it from client lag. (And, as a result, players experiencing client-lag might still report those they consider to be responsible - we can hope that Funcom then correctly judges the situation, but we have no way of knowing for sure.)

Actually I thinking not the structure pieces makes the problems. On my officials are very nice but also very big bases. And some of that only makes a short lag when I come into renderzone. But some of that which are not realy big. I mean 20x10 and not realy high but full of placables like candles and booked and all the other decor stuff. This is a really nice base. But sometimes I got a bluescreen on my ps4 when I access this region.

The base is i talk about is not at a public spot. I think most of the players will never see it and never know there is a base. I would never report them and I hope also nobody else do this.

I am little bit afraid about the bans. I think my base could be bannable too. Maybe to big? But what is to big? My base lags for a second or two when I came back in rendering zone but makes no more problems.

My problem with this ban situation is, that there is no official building limit but it seems that an unofficial internal one exists. I would like to know what is too much before someone ban me and say that was too much. Because even than I don’t really know what was too much

Start at 1000 building pieces per player in a clan. Keep it below that and I guarantee you will avoid the ban-wipe.

As long as the base isn’t built in the wrong area.

I doubt any of my builds on SP would even be big enough to get banned on a server. I don’t know why people build so big on servers. That can be done on SP if they want. I know some of the crafting stations are big (mainly animal pens and wheels of pain), and map rooms are big, but it really doesn’t mean you have to build over half the map. Guess it comes down to just having consideration for other players on the server.

I have mentioned this elsewhere, but if you want a graphic aural demo of the toll that buildings take on the server:

  1. Install CE Server on a traditional “platen-based” 5400 rpm drive
  2. On Win 7 or 8
  3. Set it next to your desk

If you build large admin buildings, populate them, then ask players to come and visit you’ll see loggable data as well as hear it. In fact, when the machine grinds away, I know to look at the logs. I am currently running automated players on my test units, and it’s quite interesting.

Regardless, as an admin there are numerous ways to judge the impact of player assets. Perhaps with 3.0 we’ll get an integrated Admin tool that lets us see what’s going on under the hood.

Would like to see any admin tools for private servers hosted by g portal for PlayStation.
I had once a server for an year but the options are really

No description to the parameters and not everything worked how it should or reset after server restart
And that is only config. A tool or interface where I can do some analytics would be nice too.

Is there something changed or is it all the same? I had the server in 2019

With PS4 it’s all proprietary, last time I checked. I like to imagine that Sony forces G-Portal to run a farm of wise, old PS3s as servers.

Everybody has great opinions in this conversation and I’m glad there’s not a lot of hostility BUT can somebody from funcom please give us a definition I buy mega size base

It’s not just size. Its amount of foundation pieces plus the amount and type of placeables and the number of thralls moving around plus what is the surrounding area like? How many NPC’s how much motion around that around
it’s just too many variables to account for to get an accurate spec. If you ask for this spec, they will go low and you are scratching your heads on why that is. I can bet you real money that I can create a base that has a 3X3 footprint that FC would ban in a heartbeat
it will be visilble from all sides of the map
glowing like the sun
but it would drain the server like nothing ever seen before and all folks playing on the server would report me for it.
