I’m sure this isn’t specific to PC, just a general bug with the Cartographer journey step to “Find the Volcano” which won’t update if you enter the lower part of the volcano at Dragonmouth (by that I mean actually entering the volcano proper on the way to the Well, not just the passageway).
I’ve been told the journey updates when you use the Road of the Pilgrim entrance but not when you use any of the other entrances. I believe there is already a bug report on this, but it doesn’t hurt to have another.
For me the journey step did not update entering via the obelisk, The High Way, the Dragon Mouth, The Floe, running around the Well, Shrine, Bridge, etc. It updated entering at The Hidden Way.
As indicated, the journey step only triggers when you walk into the volcano on one of the paths. Porting, either via map room or cave entrance, will not satisfy the step.
The journey step itself just says “Find the volcano”. There’s no qualifications about how you find it. They should probably clarify that, if using a path is what’s intended.
Internally the journey step is linked to map marker discovery and triggers when you get within discovery range of the following markers:
Road of the Pilgrim - X=-24276.125000,Y=-157927.250000,Z=17783.093750
Road of the Righteous - X=-17043.812500,Y=-173650.718750,Z=31969.500000
The Hidden Way - X=-45906.812500,Y=-171789.718750,Z=34543.500000
Yeah, unfortunately, the game isn’t specific in that regard. Also, let’s say someone trips across the dragons’s mouth for the first time and realizes it didn’t work. By all intents and purposes, they found the volcano. Xel-Ha is marked by a region. The volcano should follow the same pattern. The summoning place is a single location, as is New Asagarth, so it makes sense to be tied to a discovery point… coupled with the fact that there’s only one way into both of them. Xel-Ha and the volcano are full regions… the volcano is a full biome. Maybe a better discovery point would be somewhere within the volcano itself?
Lol yeah I map roomed in and then was running around trying to get it to grant me the journey step. I even made sure to quickly run through lava to see if that popped it. It didn’t

Those actually work exactly the same.
The only difference is that they are all faction halls with the “colored” icons and as such have a massive discovery radius that works even from outside the place
But the concept is still the same, it’s triggered off the map markers being discovered (Xel-Ha actually has 2, one for the ruins and one for the docks, both trigger the achievement, but the ruins one with the yellow icon has a massive radius).
Sure a central “Volcano” marker wouldn’t be too horrible I guess and shift it over to that one if this causes confusion
A lot of the Journey system is afflicted with this weak verbiage. For Dungeon Delver, “Explore” translates into “Defeat the end bss while the journey step is active.”
And then there is High Priest which tells you to capture a T2 Priest when a T4 is required for the end step.
Btw, I’m on official PvE and have never summoned a god EVER on it. I’ve done it on private and single/co-op before. It use to destroy the shrine and kill the priest, is this still the case? Also, can I be away from my base to prevent it from getting damaged? It just feels like a waste to do all this, considering it gives nothing of relevance.
