Celebrating 6 years of conan exiles

I make a solemn promise that I will not spend a single coin on “Dune: Awakening”.
Funcom did everything to make me feel completely disappointed in “Conan Exiles” and their work to eliminate bugs they created.
I’m not ready to step on the same rake twice with the Funcom tag.

Not the point.

And that is the key.

When a dev stream highlights an openly and obviously bugged replacement system for a current system that is working well and, that’s not evolved.

Climbing added to the game.

Mounts added to the game, although I only really use them for harvesting.

Even Sorcery added to the game, although I rarely use it.

For me, Age of War had added two worthwhile things to the game:

  1. Action emote - the swan dive - I can initiate an emote in the middle of my action. It is fun, I wish there were more

  2. Thrall behavior overview and setting - being able to see and set a thralls behavior, and then review it and be certain it is set correctly, is a great add

Everything else, especially turning Purges into tower defense mini-games with easily min/maxed setups, has been tiresome, bugged, disappointing, and deliberately punitive for not playing the open world sandbox game the “right” way.

As for the Hunt, I find it monotonous, unnecessarily time locked, with rewards that are under par and pets we know will be hella nerfed because, like bearers, they will decide, “This is not how we intended them to be used, which is why we set them up with their current abilities.”

I keep testing games in a similar genre. Conan replaced 7 Days to Die when the FunPimps decided to force me to play a game I did not enjoy. Conan is, actively, pursuing a similar course with Age of War.

On the contrary, a circle is defined as an object having infinite points.

There’s no mystery as to why scholars such as Epictetus and Socrates taught in the profundum, specifically “in the round,” as students walk in a line, forever scribing a circular path.

I would very much like a return to pre-Sorcery, when the game actually played properly on my PS4. Barring that, we should really be offered a “Classic” version of the game simply as an inconvenience tax. New Coke failed.

i think u just didnt read the comments on u reply

comments on u reply

on u reply

u reply <<< YOUR REPLY on Macdallan’s post, NOT ME or anyone else ON YOURS!!!
read again! u are still lost in sauce! yes… u may have some points… but overall u still in the group of “nothing to do here” people in my eyes.
and yes… they JUST need to place back the old inventory and ui system… not asking for any rollback. everyone can keep their sh1tty gathered mats. all the wood and stone and “so hard to achievable” levels.

“Pre sorcery when the game worked” …

And we go to Reddit or this very forum, and every single problem has posts 4, 5, 6 years old reporting the same problem.

They were always there in most cases. Very specific problems that people report are “new” and they are new this in format, because they exist since that time, but the “new stuff” did not existed to share the problem.

CE has very fundamental problems that will cause flaws in any new system, but they are old problems.

For example, every single feature that relies on performing a trace to elect what to do, which translated to the player “not if a solid object is in the way”, will never work properly because the basic processing of that trace data is flawed in the very fundamental code of it.

If they make a spaceship in “age of space”, and for some reason that speaceship needs to verify “line of sight” during movement, it will have a bug, not because it is a new bug, but because the fundamental system that checks that stuff is flawed.

Games are softwares, and softwares run on computers, and computers have that name because they compute. A lot of things rely on math logic, being operations on vectors, trigonometry, etc. That is how they find the way thralls should look, the path they should follow, if they are to be on top or inside a foundation.

Some people might be under the impression there is a physics engine that rules the physics on the World. There is, but barely never the game uses it on the World. Characters are almost all the time just “floating around” in a manner that resembles physics like IRL. Not using physics simulations as we define it in games. When they are, they are rhino corpses flying like a baloon, or “Mr Fantastic rubber limbs” knocked out thralls. You can see that difference if you are lucky to find a knocked out thrall after leaving to a certain distance and coming back where they were. They will stop responding to “physics” and will look like “rigor mortis” when you drag them.

A flaw in that system that “replaces” physics causes a lot of problems. And anything that is added based on that wont work well, no mater how well that thing works, because the fundamental flaw in the system that is used sometimes “hundreds” of times in one action fails one time in each 10, still possible to fail 10 times in one single action.

The purge is a good example. The new purge is a nice system in itself. But it uses the system that is flawed in the game “since launch” tons of times, to find where the camp will be, to establish the path to the the coffer, to guide the groups in to building the actual camp parts, to find the way though doorways. The purge itself could be exquisite code, perfect in its particular code in all senses. If the code it uses from the game to do its “perfect work” does not work well, the purge does not work well. And no matter how much players report “the purge does this” return “pre purge”, it wont solve anything because the problem is there.

Sorcery introduced different mechanics that in themselves work fine. But again, those rely on problems the game has in their fundamental functions. No matter how much more it shows up because “more features” are introduced using the flawed code, the problem still the fundamental one.

In Mass Effect 3, Legion says something that follows the same idea:

Haha cool @stelagel

We definitely getting use out of the free game :joy:
Of course long ago bought the DLC and I have been buying things here and there on the bazaar.

And didn’t expect it at all. Definitely turned into a big deal that I play lots. This is one of my go to games. Even if I just pop on for a little bit to build or tweak something. Or do a little exploring.

There were times where I wasn’t playing as much but then my bro was playing and building and leveling thralls, etc.

Except for when we had to move servers with the big server migration, we’ve had a PvE base all these years

Yeah, I got your point.

And my point (or counter-point, if you prefer) is that it’s never going to happen, game companies almost never do that, and the ones that do have a larger player base + revenue stream. Therefore we, as players and paying customers, should pick our battles and focus on pushing them to do better rather than trying to push them to something that’s almost guaranteed to never happen.

I supposed it’s possible they might spin up some “classic” servers, but even that I severely doubt.

But sometimes they do, so that means Funcom can.

Yelling your nonsense louder doesn’t make it better.

Again, the only comments to my reply were yours. There were no other comments to read.

I mean, obviously you’re not suggesting that I need to read my own reply better, because that would be a stupid suggestion. You’d have to be a real numbskull to say something like that, and I assume you’re not a numbskull.

Nope. Still wrong.

I definitely agree that they need to return to the pre-Chapter 4-inventory system, but that’s not what I was replying to. Context matters, and you seem to have lost the context in your own bowl of sauce.

It feels like you’re deliberately ignoring the rest of what I said.

“…the ones that do have a larger player base + revenue stream.”

Don’t get me wrong, I think it would be great if FC is both able & willing to have “classic” servers, if you can make that happen then more power to you. But personally, I think you’re tilting at windmills.

i was really thinking that i let this just go… this gets to abstract but just for science what will happen. i try again:

  1. Macdallan did a post
  2. YOU (Pipinghot) reacted to Macdallan’s post
  3. Ryonen (me) say to YOU (Pipinghot) that YOU should read more careful Macdallan’s post

??? so far clear ??? i really try my best

  1. and YOU (Pipinghot) telling ME (Ryonen) this:
“Again, the only comments to my reply were yours.”

anything rings a bell?
i was not talking about any reply ON YOUR comment!
i was talking about YOUR reply on Macdallan’s comment!

if this will not be clear enough, i think u are trolling or… well… i am out. going to have a nice discussion with a … wall maybe, or a carpet.

No, that’s not what you said. What you actually said was, “i think u just didnt read the comments on u reply”.

Those two comments are not the same thing, they are saying two different messages. If you had actually said, “YOU should read more careful Macdallan’s post” that would have made sense, however that is not what you said.

However, since it’s obvious that English is not your first language we can let this go, it looks like it’s just an error in translation. No reason for us to keep going back and forth because of a translation issue.

Why should you be the one to decide which version of the game should be the real “classic” experience?

Just give me back the game I bought, which was still in Early Access back then. Make that the “classic” version instead of this modern- day humbug you’re advocating. Let’s see how many of you would enjoy that.

Why shouldn’t I be the one to decide? I have more common sense and more gaming experience than everyone at Funcom, I mean they didn’t even know people used precise stack splitting all the time…

Yeah, if you actually wanted that then why not? We all know you don’t, that you’re just being a contrarian, but if you truly wanted that then I see no reason you shouldn’t have it.

How about those anniversary dlc discounts? It’s hard convincing people that are new to buy anything with all these game breaking bugs, pull someone who knows how to actually program off of Dune for a few weeks to fix the falling through the floor that is becoming more of an issue everyday.

I have the physical copies of many PS4 versions of Conan Exiles, including sealed versions with a Conan Doll on top. I can put them into my PS4 and play them, yes or no? I’m not being glib here, and certainly never attacking you old friend, I’m simply postulating my questions about the responsibility of a software developer.

I thought we may have received something (anything) for the sixth year anniversary. But hey, at least we got a stats page.
